  • Select backlit keyboard

I was able to get it down to $449 with my edu acc.

It's also one of the relatively lighter 15in at 3.9lb

The reason why this particular HP model is particularly attractive to a lot of people is the excellent port selection of HDMI 2.0 as well as inclusion of usb-c with DP (displayport 1.4) and PD (power delivery). This allows for connection of two 4K 60hz displays to the laptop as well as ability to charge it also via the usb-c. It does also have a separate barrel power connector and adapter so you can connect a monitor to the usb-c without having to get a hub to be able to use the usb-c for both display and power at the same time. Also the inclusion of two sodimm to allow upgrade to 64GB ram if needed is another plus.

Also, you might notice that Walmart have similar models using this same chassic once a while on sale, but the Walmart models do not have any backlit keys. They used to have the earlier batch of 15-eh000wm with the backlit keys on sale many BF ago but those are long gone. All of the newer WM laptops with this chassic with the ryzen cpu no longer has backlit keys. I have confirmed this myself on several recent occasions. So if you want a backlit keyboard for sure this is pretty much the cheapest sure way

then you are comparing apple to orange. The above WM models are completely not the same as the one i am posting. They are from the Essential series and is inferior in a lot of way: only HDMI 1.4 and usb-c without DP and PD . No backlit keyboard! Also Wifi 1x1 and BT 4.2.

The only deal that is better was when WM had this exact chassic (and all of the goods that came with it) back in 2020 BF for $380. That came with the 4500U. The lucky people that got in on the early drop got the backlit keyboards with all the later shipments have no backlit keys. And every single WM laptop that has this chassic with its good selection of ports since then had lack the backlit keyboards. I can tell you also that it is not all easy to retrospectively put in a backlit keyboard in this chassic because the keyboard can't just be removed from the chassic by undoing a few screws.

The devil is really in the details! There is a very good reason why the HP laptops that use this particular chassic have higher price than those other cheaper ones!

I can tell you right now that you are not going to find another laptop with all the above specs for cheaper right now (or since at least BF)
Please check again in my description that you need to select the FHD option. The original base configuration screen is only 768p at $430. But I did say in the description that you need to select the FHD options
The problem is that you didn't mention HP Pavilion in the title, which is one higher tier than their Essential series in which that Walmart model falls. I also had the same feeling that this is a bad deal but I did open the link and found out this one is Pavilion. I would suggest you update the deal title and add in-depth spec to avoid confusion and unnecessary downvoting.

There are lots of threads where this laptop has been $399 at Walmart in recent months. (Including FHD)

$480 is not a good price.

Thanks. Edited and more info added.

I saw your comments on this when HP had it on sale for $420 during BF 2021

At this price point, the display is what you'll get for literally any company. If you want better, pay higher, as simple as that.
Now regarding the battery, almost all sub $600 laptops come with 40W to 50W Battery, with a very few exception. Also, have you checked any reviews that how much battery life it does provide? For a laptop, battery life does not just depends on the capacity but the hardware in it and the optimization done. Due to having a very power efficient Ryzen Processors, that battery can give you battery life around 6 to 7 hours or may be even more, with day to day usage.

HP uses cheap 6 bit ips panel on the 15 inch Pavilion line to cut cost. 6 bit panel can only display up to 265k colors vs the regular 8 bit panel that can display up to 16 million colors. You can check whether a laptop screen is a 6 bit or 8 bit by going to Settings -> Display -> Advance Display Settings.

I prefer the I5 however it lacks USB C gen 2 with Display Port. So if you want multiple monitors it requires a more expensive adapter and then no 4K @ 60HZ on it.

If you want to play some lower end games this might be better for that. It is better at multi thread as well as it has 6 cores not 4. The I5 is better at single core.

Nothing bad about this processor.
