No. The seller I buy from opens them to check, then retapes. I think they are store returns. This way if there is an issue people can't claim something is missing. Looks brand new to me besides the extra tape.

If you are a collector you will want to buy from Target or Walmart to make sure that the box is (hopefully) in good shape. I have the Episode 7 Falcon (From Target at $78 in precovid times) and this one looked like a different build and a better display I bought it for May 5th.

That's the one, but it is complete. The people there don't check that well. The bags aren't even open. It's really weird. It's going to be an issue when LEGO switch to paper bags you can't see inside of.

I've bought 5-6 'incomplete' sets from them and so far only one was missing just 4 pieces and the stickers.

Do you ever get knock-offs this way? My wife was happy because she bought me a bunch of older minifigures from a sci-fi convention where vendors were selling OOP mini-figures something like "5 for $10". When I took a closer look they were AliExpress forgeries. Pieces didn't fit quite right. No "Lego" stamp on the studs.

So far so good. Plus if there is an issue eBay will refund. The moonbase I bought comes from a new to me seller but they have like 14000 seller reviews and a 99.6% rating.

You have to be more careful about minifigures.

It was incomplete.

It was missing a modified 1x2 brick. Well worth the cheaper price.

if that's true that was a good deal meanwhile I got brand new Tallneck for this price and very enjoyed building it while someone on eBay trying to sell them for $999
