Step 1) Buy LG V30 on eBay for $50 in flawless condition

Step 2) Root it and install Android 11 on it

Step 3) Enjoy all the features it has that are better than the Nord N200

Step 4) Instead of buying a yearly plan for ~$15/month through an MVNO, pay T-Mobile ludicrous amounts for their garbage plans so you can get a statement credit and a new Oneplus Nord N200.

Hard pass.

You'll still have to pay shipping and tax on the new phone. Comes out to $20-$30 depending on your sales tax. Just FYI

Also, from T-Mobile's own website, MM costs between 47-57$ per line per month.
Some people have older plans or specialized discounted plans. I've got five phones and my plan is $138 month.

This deal isn't for everyone, but if you've got an old junk phone laying around, this is basically a free phone, or free backup.

Yeah, I forgot to add that one of my kiddos breaks their phones alot. They would rather have a lesser phone, knowing I have another one as backup waiting, than a flagship with no backup waiting when the inevitable happens. . .
Agreed. That's what I've been using it for from the last deal. My kids have yet to break one though. My younger daughter almost broke the screen but seems like the screen protector saved it. So the ones we got from last year are still going strong. And even if they do break it, I won't feel bad too much about since it only cost me taxes, shipping and the price of the $10 Tracfone I traded-in last year.

If you have Magenta Max, note that you can currently trade in the OnePlus N200 for the OP10 and OP9 devices and get $600 trade-in value (no AAL required, but MagentaMax required). For the OP N200s I got last year, I actually plan to trade-in for the OP9 and then use the OP9 to trade it in for an iPhone 13/14 later in the year when the next iPhone promo is available without an AAL requirement. This might be too many hoops for others but figured I'd share in case you're interested in looking into it.

Why would you give them a new phone when they break it repeatedly? Teach them they have to care for their phone or they'll have none. If they are forced to survive for a year without a phone, believe me they'll never break one ever again.

Couldn't find my LG Tribute 5, Samsung Galaxy Rush, ZTE Z Max 2, LG X Charge, or HTC One V on the trade-in list.

Any new customer should not be signing up for a new T-Mobile account to get this phone; that doesn't make any sense and this isn't the point of this offer. There are always better phone offers for new customers. This is for existing T-Mobile customers who aren't going anywhere ... effectively a (nearly) free phone for remaining a customer for two more years (which they were going to be anyways).

And regarding the V30 route, the battery life of a 5+ year old phone isn't something that would ever work for me (and I have no interested in a 3rd party battery replacements). I'd much rather use a new N200 myself. It's nice to have options to go whatever route makes sense for you (which means existing, happy T-Mobile customer for the free N200).

Reach out to T-force and ask them to assist. I think there are generic options that can be used for other phone models that are not specifically listed on Tmobile's online list.

These "free" device deals for cheap phones obviously make sense mostly for those with grandfathered accounts who will be with T-Mobile for another 24 months anyway. Or for those on Magenta Max that can trade in the OnePlus N200 for the OP10 and OP9 devices and get $600 trade-in value.

If you're not in either of those categories, stop whining and move on, this deal is probably not for you.

That being said, I wish the deal was for a somewhat better phone. For example, the "free" LG Velvet 5G that was offered last year was a nice option. Something along those lines would be more enticing for those planning to keep the phone. I guess the Nord N200 is better than nothing but does not seem like a very good phone overall according to the reviews.

I'm planning on doing the same but don't have much EC left. Might be better to buy an used 8T for trade-in since the OP9 deal is about $300+ out of pocket.

There is a generic option (Z5g Upgrade Promo All Carriers) but for some reason it's not working (phone condition page comes up blank no matter what I tried, different IMEIs and browsers). Was working just fine if I selected a specific model as a test (with a phone that I don't actually want to trade in). This is a problem if you have an old flip phone to trade in and it's not one of the listed devices. I've done similar promos before and the generic option worked just fine then

I was told that I can't have two similar promotions on the same line so I am not eligible for this offer! I got one A11 previously so for this promotion I am not eligible

You can not unlock the phone until the full amount is paid off... either wait 24months or pay off early for those who want to unlock any Tmobile phone on payment plan
