Step 1) Buy LG V30 on eBay for $50 in flawless condition

Step 2) Root it and install Android 11 on it

Step 3) Enjoy all the features it has that are better than the Nord N200

Step 4) Instead of buying a yearly plan for ~$15/month through an MVNO, pay T-Mobile ludicrous amounts for their garbage plans so you can get a statement credit and a new Oneplus Nord N200.

Hard pass.
You'll still have to pay shipping and tax on the new phone. Comes out to $20-$30 depending on your sales tax. Just FYI
24 months credit..? Hard pass

I thought you can get one free with $60 monthly plan from Metro, a T-Mobile company.

Will this work if you have other promos/credit on the line?

I added this to a line that was already receiving other promotional credits (from other device promotions) and they stacked. YMMV.

Just missing some of the newer LTE bands and 5g. The point of the offer is get their customers onto 5g and shutting and moving their 3g and LTE networks to 5g. Granted, that's going to take awhile.

I've got an ancient Galaxy s3 mini and a Moto E4. How would I begin to do this? Do I need to go to a store? Can I ship it out?

Lol, some of us pay less than $15 per line for Magenta Max. So for me, everything you said above is garbage. I grab these "free with any trade" phones just to have as backup or to use as wifi devices around the house. Since I'm on MMax, and not an MVNO, I also grab free with trade flagship phones as well. Since I feel I have a good deal on my plan, I never go griping about bill credits or being locked down for 24 months. . .as it doesn't matter to me

You can do it in-store. Or you can place the order online and ship out your trade-in. I opted for the online order myself and mailed out the trade-in. As others have said, you still have to pay for shipping and taxes online. If you do this in-store, you'll pay taxes and probably the $30 customer assistance fee.

I could not agree more. While this is not for everyone, I think there's plenty of folks who can definitely benefit from these free with any trade promos especially since they don't require adding a line. My kids are using these same free phones from the last deal and they are working out pretty well for my family.

Yeah, I forgot to add that one of my kiddos breaks their phones alot. They would rather have a lesser phone, knowing I have another one as backup waiting, than a flagship with no backup waiting when the inevitable happens. . .

Since they just took down 3G, I think that's going to be a while.

You have to be on a T-Mobile plan to take advantage of this "free" phone (that requires you to trade in a phone first). T-mobile has garbage coverage outside of cities. Also, from T-Mobile's own website, MM costs between 47-57$ per line per month.
I live in the sticks. . .and get 100Mbps+. and again, pay less than any unlimited MVNO plan out there. And get to grab these phone deals, as well as flagship phone deals as well. Lol, if you take my logic, you would have a qualifying trade in phone waiting to trade. . .
