Brother's website has always been a little glitchy, so you may need multiple tries to get an order placed. Also please be advised that the HLL2370DW has already sold out.

What are the significant differences for the color printers? Is there one that's generally recommended?

The significant differences are: Printer only versus all-in-one with copy and scan functionality. Within the all-in ones, there are models with and without document feeders. Within the color models listed, all have automatic duplexing except the HLL3210CW. Your model choice will depend on which of these features you want for your intended use.

The 2300D, 2305W, and 2320D use the older chipless TN630/TN660 series toners, so generics will be no problem. I've heard mixed reviews on success using generics on the new TN730/TN760 chipped cartridges. When I ordered my refurb Brother all-in one last year, a MFCL2685DW, I made sure that it used the older TN630/TN660 toner to sidestep any issues with generics. It does great with them. And at the time it was $99 shipped at Walmart.com, a steal of a deal. Arrived as new and is a great all-in-one laser.

Thanks for sharing your concerns. Brother factory refurbs come with all new consumables (toner and drum), and reviewers overwhelmingly report that these printers are in brand new condition when received.
To add to that, the HL-L2325DW refurbished I got from Walmart (Brother factory refurb) came with a brand new drum and a brand new TN-730 (not starter toner).

For those interested, walmart.com has the factory refurb Brother HLL2325DW with duplexing and wireless for $79.99 with free shipping. Very good price. Here's a link:

These laser printers have a major flaw with the bottom paper tray not being recognized after heavy use. The paper tray slides into the printer and this tiny plastic piece tells the printer if the tray if the tray is in or not, after inserting paper into the tray over and over, you will get an error message of ‘no paper tray - reload paper’. I tried to get mine fixed which was nearly impossible, moist places will not fix or work on printers, I did find one place but they wanted $80 per hour to work on it with an estimated 4 hours to disassemble and repair it. Buy the extended 3 warranty through Allstate/Square Trade-Walmart’s warranty company. Avoid and I mean avoid the new Brother printers like the MFC-J1010DW which does everything--print copy, fax, scan, duplex printing, and even ADF., Replacement ink for a set of 3 colors and 1 black and white will set you back, $60 each time. There are no OEM or generic inks for this model anywhere. Uses the Ink LC401 series. I had a problem with this printer only a week later getting low ink messages after only printing less than 20 pages and Brother told me to replace the ink cartridges to fix it. $60 in the trash. This printer only costs $100. You can go the EZ-refresh monthly subscription ink-jet program, $2.50 for 40 pages per month, $5.50 for 80 pages per month, $10 for 200 pages per month, and $16 for 400 pages per month. The laser costs are more expensive. If you go over your allowed limit, you will get charged more automatically and when you cancel the refresh program, any refresh ink left in your printer immediately stops working. I printed 9 envelopes and was already down to 31 pages for the month, insanity. Do yourself a favor, and check the prices of replacement ink cartridges or toners before buying any printer from any brand. New printers are chipset locked, making 3rd party ink useless and brand name ink prices are overpriced. The best solution for me was to get an all-in-one black and white laser printer, No expensive ink cartridges to deal with and toner ink doesn't dry up if say you only print once a month. Color laser printers are not worth the price as the color output looks faded compared to what's on-screen. Hope this helps Smilie Jusy my .02 cents on the printer market in 2022.

Thank you. Looks like the 3290cdw would be the best all in one option under $300.

I have a small home office, have used Brother B&W AIO + Dell color lasers for years. Recently moved, can no longer justify the space for both printers, have been looking for a reasonably priced AIO color laser. After 1.5 years of frustration, I decided to bite the bullet, go with an HP inkjet AIO.
