We have a local Farm & Fleet, so no problem picked up. If shipping, it is going to depend on who you talk to because from Lowes or Blains, that item often comes from a warehouse.
If Lowes does match the delivered cost, the only net savings I can see for you is if using a 10% off Lowes gift card from Dollar General to save another $30.
Can anyone comment on the DWS779 being "downgraded"? I have heard of three versions of the 779, with the latest version being the most stripped down.
I miss how good this saw used to be. It was one of the best miter saws for the price. But when type 21 came out, it went downhill in terms of features.
When Type 22 came, it went down in more features, and in quality. (A drastic decrease in quality). It's tolerance issues, and constant need to be recalibrate on the entire saw made it worthless. If you have to re-true the blade, fences, and base every 50-100 cuts, then it doesn't matter how good the motor is.
Luckily, I bought the type 22 i got last, at Lowe's. So after returning it... twice... with the same issues, I was able to go a different route... and I'm glad I did.
My Bosch has been so much better. I'd take it over the 580, let alone the newer 779s. It's smoother, doesn't jump, stays true, and it handles full kerf blades that would eat the 580/779 motor alive.
So, I wish you luck if you got this deal. The price maybe appear great, but 99% off of a π is still a π . Lol.
(Now... let the yellow hate flowwwww from you all! I feed on it!!! Lol.)
