Black dude here. I've tried many things, and Witch Hazel is the only thing that prevents bumps. I have to use immediately after shaving.

This is my go-to toner. I have mild rosacea (under control by prescription from dermatologist) so this is super gentle on my skin and doesn't cause breakouts. I love this stuff. Great deal! Thank you OP!

I use to work with some black dudes during a war. We had communal bathroom trailer units. The black dudes used witch hazel. I asked one of the guys what witch hazel was because it sounded like some potion. He said black dudes use it to prevent razor bumps.

That's why I originally said I think that, but I'm still not really sure what a witch hazel toner is for, and I figured that being the internet, someone might lash out and tell me if I'm wrong.

Helps with hemorrhoids and also herpes outbreaks. That's general witch hazel though. I don't know what else is in the toner so I'm not recommending anyone use the toner for that purpose.

I've been using this for about a year, just have a spray bottle from Jurlique so I refill it with this, I add a little bit rose toner in it too to make it smell better. Because this thing alone smells bad. But it is working really good, I can definitely tell the pores on my nose are not that visible anymore and there's nothing else changed in my skincare routine

Note that this contains alcohol, which dries out your skin. Some dermatologists say that leads to more acne.

I moved away from this toner due to the alcohol and have noticed a difference.

Since Dickinson's original witch hazel toner is 100% witch hazel plant, I am guessing the alcohol is natually from the plant, not like the company added alcohol to the toner. The rosewater toner says no alcohol in it.

You used different toner now? What do you use?

I have been using Dickinson's original witch hazel toner for many years, and it has made my skin softer and my pores less noticeable. I also have used Dickinson's witch hazel from first aid department to use on my face because it was a little cheaper. As I recall, the ingredients were same as witch hazel toner, and it worked same as the toner. I need to ry rosewter toner. I like to use witch hazel toner to freshen up my face after sweating during summer time. It feels really good doing that.
