This is a blazing good chromebook.

Has a 3:2 Screen, a 60,000 google octane score power to blast through websites.

And it will get updates through June 2029.

This is one of the BEST ways to live on the web.
Actually, they mean a lot.

Rips through the web for me to do my work- exactly what I want it to do. The speed matters.

Being that my mobile use is basically nil battery life doesn't matter to me.

On the fan - you either like fan-less, low-watt processor chromebooks or chromebooks with fans and "big" intels. I don't expect to change people minds on their preferences.

had kinda decided to live with my dying chromebook until the back to school and fall/black friday deals came along, but this is a well-speced CB at a good price and hopefully won't ever need the 2 year ebay refurbished warranty, but that is a nice plus to throw in for free, worth a good $25 or more compared to some other vendors.
and before all the haters and naysayers come along, yes this is pricey for a chromebook but cheap for a decent laptop. If you don't understand or use the Chrome OS, fine, and yes the auto update policy is a drag, but this one is supposed to be good til 2029, so plenty, and although you can get a CB for under $100, a nice screen plus more than adequate RAM and SSD storage are totally worth it. I manage my parents, my kids, and my own chrome accounts on my CB and having the overhead of the 8/256 will make life much easier.

edit: forgot a key point--in for 1; a better deal will come along with fall, but right now, this is the deal to beat if the form factor works for you (good arguments to be made for bigger or smaller devices; this is a good compromise size)

Great price OP. My wife has one and my brother has one and they both love them. They bought when they were considerably more expensive, but still think they were worth the price. Only weak point really is the sound, but most people use headphones anyway. The screen is pretty amazing and the keyboard is solid.

Those octane scores don't mean much for the end user experience. Poor battery life, super-POOper sound system and random out of the blue FAN noises ruin the experience.

Had this but returned and one of the reasons was because the speakers were crackling. Read this was a known issue. Did they ever find a fix? By the way, this is Consumer Reports highest rated Chromebook.

I have this 2020 model one and I absolutely love it. I got it for sub 300 as an open box and it's a daily driver. I abuse it with 30 tabs open all the time. Highly recommended.
That said, the sound is crap.

I have the i3 version and fan rarely comes on. Prob not as fast as this but it's pretty fast running Linux apps and general browsing and streaming it blows the Asus 17.3" chromebook I just got away in how much it can handle and snappiness. The screen is better than my older iPad Pro and prob the best out of all my laptops and monitors.
