I bought this about 10 days ago for $500 which I thought was a great deal but I found that its selling for $409 today and got it price matched. Hutch is also available for $150.

This is a great product and I am loving it. There was 30% back in rewards available last week on these. You can make this sweeter with other cashbacks and office depot rewards.

Caution - This takes 4-5 hours to assemble but totally worth it

Assembling is a pain in %$^ just FYI. Not for the faint of hearts !! And if you decide to move, god bless you taking it in 1 piece

completely agree with the above comment. Major Pain to put together. Though its been great so far. I have had it for quite sometime now and thrown some abuse at it. Of course you get what you pay for. And yeah, don't even think about disassembling it. This piece of furniture is part of the house now.

Great desk, and +1 major pain in the *&^ to put together. You will need at least two people.

Also FYI: OD has had this desk for $299, and hutch for $99 in the past when I bought mine.

Keep in mind, any L or U shaped desk is going to be much more limited on placement options.

I much prefer a large straight desk and you are pretty open to options when you move to different rooms etc.

I've had this desk for the past 12 years and I love it. You need a good-sized room, and it will take up the corner and then some. But you can't beat the space. The finish has held up reasonably well. I would consider myself a fairly typical user - not super careful, but I rarely eat at my desk, and wipe up any spills right away.
Installation
I agree it's not the easiest thing to put together because it has a lot of pieces. If you have put together IKEA furniture, this is pretty similar. I did it mostly alone and took me about 6-7 hours over 2 days. If you have help it will go much faster. Sometimes you have to hold together two pieces to fasten them and having someone around makes it a lot easier.
Moving
I have moved it once from a 2nd floor room to the basement. The U shape is actually 2 unconnected parts, an L and an I. I just disassembled the L into two pieces. I was then able to move it with another person's help. Just don't count on doing it frequently!
Hutch
I bought the hutch along with the desk but ended up never using it. Initially, it was because it would block windows in my upstairs office. Later I started using 2- and then 3 large monitors which would be tricky with the hutch.

Overall, it is a good investment for someone who spends a lot of time at their desk and needs (or likes to have) ample workspace for computers, printers, files, papers, etc. If you're the kind of person who just works with a 13-in laptop and your phone you don't need this desk.

PS
I'm happy to give my hutch for free to a fellow SDer if you can pick up in the Boston area. It's been sitting unopened in a corner of my garage for all these years.

I have this and I like it. I separated it out into two tables. Works well.
