Great price for a wide angle lens buuut this thing focuses like a turtle (slow) and it's very heavy. Front end would is hard to balance especially on a gimbal.

Lastly the front end is bulbous so no screw on filters only matte boxes or filters between the sensor and the lens as an FYI.

If none of those are a deal breaker this is a inexpensive wide angle lens that appears to made of good construction. Oh and it's definitely a bit soft on the edges as well.

Great review of this lens, not to be confused with the older AT-X Pro version: https://www.christopheanagno.com/...-8-review/

I've been looking for Nikon version of this lens, used one at eBay with maximum target of $700. From what read, this performs at par with Nikon glass, probably made to exact specifications, not that I care for over-priced and over-hyped any of the Nikon junks. Can never trust internet reviews, still very tempting.

Does it use electronic diaphragm aperture control like newer Nikon glasses?

Great deal! Thanks! I ordered one as soon as I saw this! Been unwilling to get rid of my old Tokina 11-16 because I love it and didn't want to spring for the Tamron 15-30 VC. I even kept a 70d mostly for the purpose of keeping that lens. This will help me dump some of that off before I pick up a R6.

Any thoughts on how this performs on a crop sensor APS-C DSLR? I'm looking for an upgrade on the 18-55 kit lens on my Canon.

I wouldn't recommend this lens for crop, with all those unnecessary weight and bulk. It's like casting an AOE spell on single target. Waste of mana
My first choice would be sigma 18-35 F 1.8, 2nd choice be any of those 18-50ish F2.8 from sigma tamron or canon.

+1, echoing all of the above. Still a great lens for the money. Almost a year ago, a refurb version of this went on sale for $399 but I received a brand new lens in a brown box. Heavy yes but any FX lens of this spec is bound to be heavy. It is soft on the edges even when stopped down. Don't let your tiny phone screen fool you. I enlarged a picture from this shot on a D610 to a 20x30 print and the edges are very soft. But that's being too nitpicky for this price. Buy with confidence, construction is solid.

IN a similar price ballpark, I recommend the Tamron 17-35mm f2.8-4 OSD. It is much lighter, takes normal filters, has more zoom range, and is better optically. Yes it drops to f4, but since this Tokina only goes to 28mm, it's like f2.8-3.5 in that range. Much better overall unless you must have 16 over 17 and f2.8 at 28mm.

Is this worth it for the Canon R5. I have a converter. I love to get the 14-35mm L RF len, but I don't want to spend that much cash on something I rarely use. I think my 24-70mm RF will get the bulk of the usage. I would love to get this to do astrophotography one of these day.

Have you considered the canon rf 16mm 2.8?

I think quality wise, I rather get this for the flexibility. Isn't the 16mm F2.8 $299? For $100 more you get zoom. After reading the 16mm F2.8 RF review, I think IQ will be similar to this after the mount.
