My neighbor has this… and I can attest to the "built like a tank". I had been shopping for a pellet grill (went with something simpler), but I would say this the best pellet grill on the market.

I have the 1250. Bought it in January and have used it every other weekend. Everything I have made has been amazing and the build quality is amazing. Spent weeks trying to find the right brand for quality and support, did so many comparisons and watched tons of reviews. These are legit, don't be fooled by websites that don't have RecTeq on their top list, it just means they haven't reviewed all available pellet grills on the market. Do your homework before you spend 1k+ on anything.

Great deal on the 700, happy smoking.

I heard these are awesome. Can anyone speak to this size and what you have fit on there? Also is there an option to cold smoke with these like for cheeses.

Highly recommend Recteq. I have an old school RT680, it's 9 years old and still going strong. I've put out alot of great bbq. there is an optional smoke box for the700, or you could use a smoke tube in the grill.

How is the phone app functionality. I'm contemplating returning a traeger I bought from Costco (silverton 620) for the recteq 590. I heard the app has been horrendous. I just bought the traeger so I have nothing bad to say except maybe potentially small. Not sure though. Worried about longevity of the traeger.

I love this grill and use it frequently. As for size, I have had 2 12-pound turkeys on it with room to spare. If you want to do things like cold smoke cheeses, beef jerkey, etc, there is an add on smoke box accessory that fits into the smokestack. Looks like it's out of stock at the moment though.

the app runs on 2.4 - most routers have both 2.4 and 5ghz. when I run it overnight, I can monitor from bed. I have not had any issue with the alarms, and I use an android phone

I know that this isn't going to be a popular comment, and I'm not here just to sh!tpost, I was genuinely interested in this when I saw the description.

I get that smoking, slow cooking makes for amazing food, but damn, for $1,200 +tax It seems like a very expensive way to burn a lot of expensive processed wood. 🤔

With tax it comes to $1,282.94! You can get a -very- respectable smoker+grill for around $300(or even several smaller smokers) and then spend that unwasted $1,000 on the actual food!

I'm sure this grill gets the job done and it sounds like it's built pretty well, but I think it's really more of a man-toy that you show off to other people and then probably tell how much you overpaid for it; as if that were impressive somehow.

Search SD for good smokers, multi-fuel grills and other combination cookers. It's ridiculously simple to convert any charcoal or wood burning grill into a smoker.

As someone who's owned more grills / smokers than any responsible person should I vehemently disagree with the "very respectable grill / smoker for $300" comment. At a certain (low) price point these things just fall apart and are useless within a year or two. There's a reason to pay more for these types of things (thicker steel, better warranty / components, etc).

Now all of this being said, you are 10000% right that this is a "man-toy". You could absolutely go out and get a weber charcoal grill + ugly drum smoker and have basically all of this functionality at a fraction of the price.

I'm not a huge pellet grill fan personally (despite owning one) but there's an undeniable convenience that comes with them.

Agreed, huge difference in quality between even a Traeger and a RT. It's like comparing a Weber grill to a Walmart special. Sure the Walmart will work for a while, but it won't be consistent and will rust out in a couple years. Meanwhile the Weber will last a decade or more.
