This versus inland Performance Plus for $120 right now? Speeds look the same and I think I read they were basically the same under the hood. Any other thoughts?

Considering the rates at which these drives are currently dropping at, I could see the 2 TB version going for a similar price as a Black Friday special or something this year, assuming you can wait for it.

Just be sure to get a cheap add on heatsink for it as this is the non heatsink version.

I feel much better now…I assumed work with PS5 meant with a heat sink

You don't absolutely need a heatsink. Almost no heat reaches the spot that this is placed. Is it safer to use one? Of course. Tons of people have gone without, and had no issues, though.

The NAND memory produces it's own heat when you push them hard. The firmware of the drive will automatically throttle the speed of the drive in correlation to temperature. If the drive gets too hot, it'll slow down on it's own. Of course, your PS5 might get some frame and buffer hitching when this happens.

The heatsink will prevent thermal throttling of the drive. So your PS5 operates at peak performance all the time.
