I would at least recommend the kryptonite u lock standard which is a degree up from this lock and good for 90% of people. Can still be broken by grinder in 30 seconds. May want to combo with a cable or axle locks for front wheel. If you have a nice bike or don't want stolen then get the kryptonite new york lock or equivalent. This lock takes over a minute to break and you need to break both sides. Most thieves look at these distinctive yellow locks and immediately decide not worth the trouble. If you have a nicer bike then get two new york locks. If you have an even nicer bike then you can't keep it out anywhere and need to by a cheapo bike for around town stuff, sorry.
Supposedly hiplok is, developing an unbreakable u lock for $300. Might be worth it in the future.

The practice here at SD is to knock the product, then post why it is not up to par. Then after those two items, you suggest what would be better. You don't do that and your comment doesn't mean much. Capito?
Edit: BTW, for the price, this is pretty darn good buy. Would I use it for parking in some ghetto? Nope.
Is the tumbler and key mechanism in this really that bad considering he (and likely other motivated people) can pop open New York in about a minute?
