That's because this wasn't a kids movie for Disney's audience. It was rated PG (I don't think PG-13 was a thing back then) and released under the Touchstone Pictures banner, which was Disney's studio for "adult" movies.

This was like the scariest "kids" movie ever created for Disney's audience. It was far more age appropriate for Adults than for little kids. I haven't seen it in years. I'm sure I'll appreciate it much more now.

Such a classic though. I completely forgot about this film. Added it to my collection. Thanks. nod

My favorite part was when Benny the cab crashed into the light pole.

Absolutely a classic... and a damn fun and engaging one even (maybe especially) for adults.

And re Jessica Rabbit FFS... she's not bad, she's just drawn that way! :p

(also it has an awesome score [youtube.com] by the incomparable Alan Silvestri... including some kick-ass trumpet work and chill jazz [youtube.com])

Confirmed:
When i was a young lad I could not handle the scene with the Gorilla Bouncer.

I think its just the uncanny animation they used for that scene throwing hoskins out the bar.

Now it just looks silly.
