Yes. Every Gen 4 x4 M.2 SSD will work with the PS5. The speed doesn't matter, unless you want to future-proof. Sony recommends one with a speed of at least 5500, but it makes no difference. Not a single game uses the full bandwidth of these SSDs yet. I have one that has a speed of 3600 and there is zero difference compared to the one the PS5 comes with. Digital Foundry did a test with one that had a speed of 3200 and games only sometimes took 1 second longer to load than the built-in PS5 SSD. This is a decent deal. Mine was $75.

Almost pull the trigger before I read Amazon reviews. It seems it's not reliable SSD. Many died within few months period. Good deal though
Maybe there were some fakes sold through Amazon. I stopped buying memory from Amazon years ago.

yes, if your laptop supports gen 4
I'm not sure. I guess I will skip it. It currently has this:

256 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD

I want a larger SSD.

It will. Recommended and required are two different things. I have one that has a speed of 3600 and there is no difference between it and the one that comes with the PS5. In fact, even SSDs with speed of 7000 only load games 1 second faster than mine. If it even does that. No games use the full bandwidth of these SSDs, yet.
They are two different things. I just didn't know if it would limit functionality, but it sounds like it doesn't.

Specs are not bad at that price for the bare minimum Gen 4 requirements.

Yeah. I just said that those are two different things, because nearly everyone seems to think the 5500 speed is required, when really, it's just recommended.

The only thing that will happen is you'll get a pop-up after installing it, that says something like, "This may not be fast enough. If you experience any problems, try a faster SSD." I don't remember the exact wording I got, but that's the gist of it. I haven't had any issues at all, and everything loads just as fast as the stock SSD.

What is blocklisted? Do you mean blacklisted? Either way, I don't quite understand what you mean. Did you try it and it didn't work? Or is it just on some list that says it won't work?

How did I get downvotes for this? Lol. SlickDeals users are idiots. Now you can give me downvotes for calling you idiots.

It was supported on PS5 on launch. It was disabled by Sony somewhere around end of last year with fw update. Now it can no longer be used in a PS5. It's still a good laptop SSD. So just because SSD is gen4 doesn't guarantee it will be supported. So if an SSD meets bare minimum requirements of Gen4 be careful

I would do do it. My laptop has a gen 3 motherboard, but the gen 4 WD Black SSD that I installed boosted its performance significantly. Based on comments here, this brand might not be the most reliable, so you may want to wait for one with a better reputation. But I just want to assure you that a gen 4 SSD should work in your setup. And when you upgrade, I would check their site to see if there might be a firmware update. Both WD and Samsung had them in the past few months and the speed bumps were pretty nice. I think they're probably shipping with up-to-date FW now, but it's always good to check.

It won't be quite as fast, but yes. It should work as a very fast external drive.
