Stupidly overpriced b550.
Five Newegg bot upvote.
Zero comments should tell people not to buy this specific product.

It is shocking to me how many people on here do not understand what a "deal" is, especially on PC parts.

In for 1. I have the non-Razer edition of this motherboard and can't complain. Not mentioned in the description, this board has a bunch of quality of life features like; bios flashback and cmos reset on the back of the board along with diagnostic readout on the board.

Buildzoid over on gamers nexus briefly spoke about this and its a fantastic board. At release it was crazy expensive, $300 bucks, which didn't make sense given it was competing with x570 boards at that price. But at $199 its competing with mid range b550 and its more feature packed. Plus it has awesome memory support and overclocking capabilities.

For what you get compared to other B550 boards for the same price, its a good deal. Not a crazy deal, just good.

MSRP on all of the Taichi boards was 299.99.

OP thanks for posting this, you're trying to help the community out and we all appreciate it ... and for all I know this is a great deal it's for wiser heads than mine to decide Smilie

I'm keeping an eye on the ASRock B450 Steel Legend motherboard mentioned here in the hopes that the price on it will gradually drop until Black Friday November 2024 when I am forced into upgrading the desktop PC's we have that I am perfectly happy with due to Win 11 being forced upon us (rolls eyes) and the end of support (and thus security updates) for Windows 10 come... October 2025 I believe ?

Hopefully it's just paranoia on my part and not having a physical TPM plug in circuit type thing purchased and installed into your MB is just fine and the MB can get TPM going virtually without it, like it's supposed to on cheaper models of MB's .. but folks that's something to consider going forward , make sure your MB supports Win 11 if you buy it ..

Only problem with a lot of these PC part deals is that people don't grasp what actually constitutes a good deal and you get alot of trolls that just come in trying to destroy the thread. This is a good price on this specific part, doesn't make it the ideal choice for everyone. I totally get the B550 hate when you put it up against X570, but both of them have pros and cons and specific use case scenarios.

I've never used tpm, so I can't really say one way or another what the best option would be for you. I've been on Windows 11 for a few months now and I'd argue it runs smoother than Windows 10 did, as I have had zero issues. But everyones personal experiences will differ, especially when it comes to Windows. Friend of mine is 100% Linux all the time, he hates windows.

Looks like the steel legend's lowest price was 99.95 on amazon over the past year, but given that its a B450 board and not B550, I am not sure that price will go down or start going up as supply disappears as the 4xx chipsets are no longer produced.

ASRock puts out good hardware, but their warranty support scares me away, anybody have experience?
From their support site it sounds like you're in for a tough time past the return period if retailer doesn't process RMA for you:
Quote :
ASRock provide 1 year warranty service to Authorized Distributor, users should refer to the retailer or original vender RMA & Refund policy.

I've never dealt with asrock directly, but I have had their boards and never had a problem. But I have also only ever had a handful of boards, maybe 3 at most over the last two decades that ever needed to be warrantied through the manufacturer. Gigabyte, asus and biostar, and none of them were any easier to deal with to get support for. Gigabyte being the worst, as I had experiences where I had multiple DOA boards right out of the box, fortunately newegg took them right back within the 30 day return period. However I have also heard bad things about newegg as of late from gamers nexus.

Show me a top tier x570 board at this price point, because I bet you can't.

X570 Taichi is $249.99 on sale (not a bad buy if you want to spend 50 more dollars)
X570S Razer Edition of the same board $430
MSI MEG X570S UNIFY-X MAX $339.99
MSI MPG X570S CARBON MAX WIFI $319.99
ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING WIFI II $379.99
ASUS ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Hero $367.99
GIGABYTE X570S AORUS MASTER $359.99
