These have been sitting on the ocean on container ships for months and months and months during the supply chain cargo container issues we had for the last year and the salt in the air corrodes all of the cheap reactive metals that make up the HDMI Port connectors and most of the other connectors that are made out of sheet metals that corrode extremely fast with the high salt concentration in the air which they were exposed to for months and months and months on end. Most electronics that were sitting in cargo container ships on the ocean are ticking time bombs for the future and problems you will have due to corrosion of micro metal connections.

Wouldn't multiple layers of packaging defeat this?

This is pretty common and not a big deal. Whatever you have plugged in to the USB port is looking for more power. Does not mean it won't run fine with less.
There was nothing connected to any USB port.

Researching forums, it seems that's common for Roku standalone devices that receives power from USB, like the sticks.

Not expected for a TV embedded with Roku.

-- It's inexpensive. I was looking to trim my electric bill by weening my kid off the 60″ plasma. -- My kid loves it for games.
-- It's pretty. It's not plasma and the picture fades if you are far to the left or right or far above or below the set, but from most of my living room, it looks great and I see no motion blur watching sports. I bought the second one to replace a 43″ plasma in my bedroom. Very satisfied.
-- It's smart. Not smart like it can run apps (it runs the Roku OS). Smart like it remembers what input you last used when powered on. That means if you use an antenna, it comes up like a dumb television. For some of us, that is very nice.
It's informative. Hit the back button on the remote and you get a full screen grid style EPG (Electronic Program Guide).
-- It's tricky. Plug a 16g USB 2.0 thumb drive into this television and you will be able to pause, rewind, and fast forward through 90 minutes of television. This television does not record programs, but it does most of the things we do with a DVR.
I'm really curious to know, for what your kid loves about the plasma for games...

I'm seriously wondering this... What games they are playing and what huge difference a plasma would make...

I mean I think we're past the plasma vs whatever now right? RIGHT? I can't believe there's still plasma enthusiasts that would exist, they still make these things?

I have a 10 year old Sharp Aquos 65" 1080p that works fine, only a very faint tint in the middle of the screen that can only be seen when complete still solid colors are displayed such as wallpapers.

I feel like I shouldn't want to replace this thing till it breaks, but will there be a deal like this when it does? hmmm

I picked up one earlier today. It says assembled in USA. Getting 2 year warranty via registration. Now the challenge of finding right place for this huge TV 😀 is going to be more expensive than I thought. Should have gone for 60". Thanks OP. Repped.

Just picked this up tonight, with an extra 5% off using the target red card it was about $330 out the door. Was going to use it out in the garage but it's become the main tv. The screen quality is on par with my Samsung series 7 and the Roku UI is much better imo than the Samsung. I think the Samsung is going to get garage duty now.

TCL is way better than Element
I won't argue with that but if the TV doesn't break and it works, then $325 isn't bad for this.

I just bought an 83" oled when I already had a 4 year old 77" oled at home. I wonder why have I been reading through this thread for the past 10 minutes super tempted to buy this TV just because it s a crazy good price? I'm running out of rooms in my home to place TVs.

The TCL 65S546 has dropped another $50 on Best Buy to $599.99. Cheapest price before that was $649.99.

I actually got one -- I did not wake up this morning thinking I'd be getting a new TV but here we are. Surprised to get the last one in stock at the closest Target to me! I suggest calling around and going in person, even if online says its out of stock. Thanks OP.
