This laptop has no microSD slot, and the chassis (bottom cover) doesn't have the opening for said slot. Consumer Reports' review [consumerreports.org] of the exact E210MA-212.HCW11 laptop shows that (and CR always take their own review photos).

Best Buy used the wrong Asus stock photo, and in general they have been sloppy with product listings (copy-and-paste from other products by workers who probably have little tech knowledge or interest). Just look at "Screen Resolution: 1600 x 768 (HD)" for one -- I've seen numerous laptops on BB with this resolution error so this copy-and-paste error have been propagating for quite a while and nobody there GAF.

Personally, I'm surprised that Asus bothered to make 2 versions of the Celeron mainboard, with and without microSD card (and the corresponding plastic bottom covers with and without slot hole, one for each chassis color), yet kept the (arguably less useful for the intended market) M.2 SSD slot in both version. It probably makes more financial sense for them to include the M.2 slot only in the more expensive Pentium model.

Lon.TV did a review [youtube.com] and mini teardown [youtube.com] of the equivalent Asus L210MA laptop.

I want to believe! There are multiple answered questions on the product page on the Best Buy website reporting that there is no SD slot as reported... I wonder if it is worth the hassle to find out? This would be a bit more viable for my purposes not sure if this price point warrants any m2 drive in terms of value...

I'd order anyway, just to try it. I'd also save and print their page, since it does list "Media Card Reader:true". If it doesn't have it, pursue it through BestBuy or your credit card company if they give you flak.

Just get the Asus E410 with win 11. I got it from buy for $150. Added nvme drive and loaded win 11 on it, unbelievably fast . Yes it can handle 10 tabs and I was watching prime without any issues.
14.6 inch vs 11 inch ( e210 )
E410 still has a 720p display. Fine at 11", but bad at 14"

In this price range there are 1080p Chromebooks.

Raspberry pi 4s are out of stock and selling way over list.

This fits the bill as replacement pi for my needs.
Plus it has a built-in UPS, built-in display, comes with memory, and keyboard. Passberry for now until they get cheaper.

I still have mine! It's been sitting in a drawer for years, but I couldn't let go of it. So many good memories!

Windows in S-mode is made for lower end devices.. And you can easily install llightweight linux if that's your jam.

Confirmed no SD card reader and ~28 gigs free after you pop out of S mode and update. Got it open box for $112 after taxes and seems like a fun little machine, happy to answer any questions and I'll be lurking for the "not enough RAM" comments here. Cheers.

I can promise that this will collect dust if you buy this (windows). Please let it collect dust at the reseller's instead. If you intend to have a Linux distro on this, it would fare better of course.

Have you ever used S mode? Its terrible, locks you out of so many important features of the OS.

This is perfect for my Grandpa. He can stream his Spotify app, browse some local news pages and Windows S mode keeps him out of trouble.

Still will probably turn this into a chromebook but can see how S mode goes..

If you buy this thinking youll throw linux on it. The wifi does not work out of the box. There are drivers for it but you have to figure out a way to install them with no wifi. Alternately if you have a usb wifi adapter you can use that to install the drivers. I have ubuntu on this laptop and it works well.
