Seems like such a niche product. Not sure who would buy this.

Seems like two niche products crammed into one. On one hand its comparable to other "gamer" soundbars for PC which are usually decent compact substitutes for a speaker that do "okay". On the other hand it has bluetooth and audio out with the following high end DAC:
"Hi-Fi Quad DAC - ESS9038 Pro", which is in theory comparable with other standalone DACs in the 300 range (however no idea if the audio implementation is good).

I would personally think of it more as buying it for the high end DAC that just happens to have a battery, bluetooth, and speaker but that's just me. Probably will get one and give it a shot.

Just saying, until LG got out of the phone business, they were THE phone to get for audiophiles for their Quad DAC impementation
Reviews from audiophiles disagree: https://www.audiosciencereview.co...ion.16919/

Even the most budget DACs from Fiio or Schiit will bring much better quality. Mind you, the standard DAC on LG phones is sometimes better than Quad DAC as channel imbalance is worse when you have quad dac enabled.

Then again most phones don't need a good DAC. Any wireless audio device is going to be using it's own internal DAC.

I don't really need to know the dac quality as it currently costs over 50 percent less. Sure they don't make high end dacs but does this mean this one isn't fine for under 200 bucks for someone possibly just dabbling in dacs. Sure we'd all love the one you mentioned but are you going to cough up the extra 250 for someone? Or would I be just fine if I'm looking for a fairly decent dac with bonus features? That's what makes this an ok deal. Can you name other decent dacs that are currently below $200?
There are well over 100 decent dacs and dac/amp combos under $200. Topping, smsl, douk, monoprice, schiit, fiio, ifi, and fx audio each have about 3-6 options and that's just off the top of my head.

Have you even looked?

And yeah, LG made decent audio interfaces…. compared to other phones.

Ultimately I decided to send mine back. It's not that it's particularly bad, I just think my money is better spent on the new mini Sonos bar (the Ray).

The sound quality is not as good as a single Sonos Play 1 or the standard Bose companion speakers - each for under this price point. Pretty disappointed.

I see there are v1 katanas from soundbalaster for a little more. I would go that direction if I want a gaming setup.
