Needed a slicer that didn't break the bank. Hasn't dropped this low in over a year according to Camel.

I own it, really efficient! Only one minute for cutting but spend a hour to clean.

Has it held up? I was originally looking to purchase a more expensive model, the LEM Mighty Bite [lemproducts.com] for its larger blades and belt transmission. My worry is that the direct transmission inside most of these budget models would cause the plastic gears inside to wear out if pushed too hard. But at only $60, it seems worth taking the risk and going slow with it.

I've cut slices so thin, I couldn't even see them.

How do you know you even cut them?

Is this something worth owning? I do like to do hot pot and Korean bbq grill. Right now we just buy the meat pre sliced. Not sure how much of a saving it is buying one of these machines

hot pot might need as thin as 1/16 inch, hard to make it using fresh meat, can consider to freeze the meat 2 - 4 hours, make it firm but not frozen, and then cut... save lots of money ...

How does it compare to the Bella food slicer that was $30 a long while ago?
