Is this pricing error? I just don't understand why'd they discount something 95% otherwise.

I know nothing about cameras, but I'm starting to think they seriously overprice their stuff.

it is over priced, but 62mm is also not a common size.

No it just cuts out so much light and makes the exposure very long, thus cars becoming a blur. The dirty road / skid marks you see in the after photo in the comparison are actually blurry cars.

That's a pricing error. IRND filters are expensive compared to the standard ones and $5 is too low

A typical DSLR/mirrorless does not need IRND filters but for my blackmagic these are the best ones to get.

I don't know the brand but even a cheap ND should be more than $5. This pretty much has to be either a clearance or a pricing error. Good filters are not cheap--what you're really paying for is the quality control to ensure it's uniform.

It's not an error, adorama does this often with closeout items on particular sizes or versions. The Hoya Solas Variable ND 77mm is another example (I even pointed out this filter in that thread). Still great deals, but they are intentional

Grab a sizing adapter and you should be able to use this with a smaller diameter lens.

It's been discontinued on the official Hoya USA site, hence the fire sale?

Also $4.99 on Adorama via eBay [ebay.com].

The regular price of $85.90 on Adorama website is bullshit, $20 on Amazon is more realistic. $5 is a good price, you can also add an adapter and use it on GoPro metal housing with 52 or 58mm filter size.

B&H do not jackup prices and they list it at $85.90.

Hoya SOLAS IRND 0.9 62mm Infrared Neutral Density Filter
Manufacture product #: XSL-62IRND09
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr..._irnd.html

Hoya website has it on sale for $51.95 from $85.90.
https://hoyafilterusa.com/product...1473483856

You can concluded that this is a good deal if you need one.
People who do not have a 62mm lens can use this with a step-up filter adapter ring to use on a smaller lens. Downside is step-up filter adapter ring price starts at about $5.

Company marketing description
Hoya has launched new USA-exclusive Solas infrared neutral density filters. The company says its new IRND filters offer a consistent color balance across the density range while also suppressing infrared, the end result being a balanced image with reduced 'IR contamination' like excessive digital artifacts and color shifts.
