So tempted to get this but I read that I should invest in a dual hose inverter like the Toshiba one if I want to save money in the long run. decision decision

Single hose AC units are just straight up garbage. 👎
Horribly inefficient, poor performing while at the same time being excessively expensive to operate. For every dollar you "save" by buying the cheaper unit you'll be paying fifteen on your electric bill. Get a dual hose unit with an efficient compressor if you can at all possibly afford to do so because you'll be saving a significant amount of money in the long term.

A block of ice and a fan is more efficient than this...

Unless you are running this for HOURS per day, every day, you'll never recover the investment spent towards dual pipe with an "efficient compressor." You are talking about double / triple the money. Lets try a little math. This unit is rated at 1100 watts. So lets assume you run this for 8 hours per day at a cost per kWh of 12 cents. $32.14 per month. If (big fat if) your super-duper inverter twin hose, Dyson vacuum inspired AC ran at half (not going to happen) that you'd be looking at a savings of $16.07 per month. So if you found a screaming deal on that unit for only double, or $480 (not gonna happen) it would only take you 1.5 YEARS to pay that off using the unit 365 days per year at 8 hours per day. Which clearly is not going to happen being there are these odd things called seasons. Realistically the unit will fail years before you ever got a ROI with normal, periodic usage. Now if you are using this as your only source of cooling, all the time...then your advice would make sense. But how many people are doing that?

i'm not sure 12 cents during summer peak hours is a realistic number.

That's my electric cost here in NC per watt at peak times. Can be higher (or lower) in other areas. Even if double that my point still stands unless you are running this 365...it will take YEARS to recoup the extra expense.

One of two things is going to happen:
-You are going to claim I'm wrong again, say you have "better things to do" than actually put your money where your mouth is, then you'll disappear into the night.
-You'll just disappear into the night.
What will NOT happen is you'll prove me wrong. (this is where people drop mics)

Ordered another air conditioner from costway about a week ago not even been shipped yet. The support keeps giving me the run around. Spend your money elsewhere.
