I've never heard of this brand. Do they just rebrand?

They white label from the 3 major manufacturers (Seagate, WD, Toshiba). However the issue to me is that there's no way to know how old the drive you're getting is. The drives have the SMART stats wiped by the mfr, so no way to tell if these are lightly used or have 20k hours on them.

At least these have two year warranties, Seagate only has one on theirs and the serial on the drive is invalidated. I can save $60+ on these and get a two year warranty. Hopefully these will hold me over until the 20tb trickle down.

Great deal for these drives, I wouldn't use these in a production workstation or a day to day (without having back solution in place) especially not knowing the hours on these drives. But as others have stated, there is a 2 year warranty on them, so that helps. I see these beneficial to those with homelabs with enterprise grade servers, (with VM clusters, RAID, SAN, etc) Again I would be cautious if using this in a day to day with data that you do not want to lose, so make sure you have a good back up solution in place.

If don't have much to lose, or would not care, and you need the space, these are a good deal on a enterprise grade hard drive that were designed to run 24/7.

Possible home use:

Plex server

Home IT labs

Security systems

Photo/document repository etc

AGAIN, if you plan to use these for data that is important, or cannot be lost, look at new, or find a cloud-based solution that has built in redundancy and high availability (HA), with constant uptime.

Read the reviews and bought one to try. Needed it to back up a another dying drive. Shipping was fast, packaging was good, but the drive inside was DOA. Not a good intro to their company if I am dealing with RMA on the first drive I ordered. Needless to say, I'd avoid them in the future.

Now I have the headache of trying to reclaim my $150 and still no drive.

A few people on serve the home say that the serial number are blank on these drive and unraid have difficulty in accessing more than 1 drives due to this. Can any one let me know if there is a serial number in smart?

Saving 50 per drive sounds nice. But it is crazy if the drive has no serial number on the smart read out.
