Most places are trying to sell it for $60 straight up for the digital codes at all times and don't discount. I think it's pretty nuts too but I guess Nintendo is able to pull it off most of the time.
And $44 is the lowest price in 2022? Just wow.
But definitely worth it IMO.
Time to put on the tinfoil hats
As some of the other comments mentioned, Nintendo proprietary games continue to get sold at high levels and therefore are unlikely to receive big discounts very often. However, I highly recommend using Dekudeals.com.
Thanks to that site I was able to get Super Mario 3D World plus Bowser's fury for the all time low price last month (40 bucks via GameStop digital code)
Incredibly useful tool for finding the best deals on the games you want. Prices and price history across all major retailers for both physical and digital purchases. Highly customizable (tons of filter and sorting options) and easy to set up email alerts.
As an added tip, if you play around with the sorting and filter options you can find great deals on great games that you've never heard of. Use options to show/sort by all time low prices, discount %, and/or Metascore (game rating system from 1 to 100, try starting around 70 and move up to narrow choices.)
Here is the game's page: https://www.dekudeals.c
You can also use a site like https://eshop-prices.com/faq to check Nintendo eShop prices from other countries, but this gets a little more difficult. Not particularly useful for this game, but there are some games will be way cheaper in other regions. If you don't want to wait for discount alerts, this is probably your next best option.
Hope all that helps!
