This game is free on Xbox gamespass and I still don't play it. Mcrotransaction filled garbage

I'm new to switch games and my son really wants this one. I was excited when I saw the sale price but with comments saying it's free elsewhere and a garbage game... I'm second guessing. We only have a switch, no other game system so I'm assuming there's no free option for my son right? Can he play the game himself like on the Wii? That's where he's played it before and I was hoping it would be similar to the Wii game.

Bought last years version because they made the price feel unresistable. "portable basketball, well that sounds ok" WELL IT'S NOT. Totally unplayable performance. Absolute trash version of this game. I assume this year will be the same. Don't fall for it.

Last year 2k21 was reduced to $9.99, and then a month later they dropped it to $5. If they follow the same pattern, it should go down once NBA playoffs are done.

Hide Not trying to TC... really I'm not... but OMG I was near tears after buying this game a couple years ago (NBA2K20). Only spent $10 (or less) on it, but it was so non-enjoyable that I contemplated PAYING someone to take my copy, just so they didn't end up spending money on it.

All I'm saying is: beware if you don't know anything about this game series. I wish I had heeded the warnings from others.
