Heads-up: this light is NOT standardized.

This means, should the light die or break, you may not be able to buy a new light for it. That means the whole thing may have to be tossed if no replacements are available.

This is true of ALL led light fixtures that do not list a bulb size.

This is horrible for the environment.

Cool, but that's not a standard.
And it's not one that you can buy anywhere, from what I've seen.
If it has a part number there won't be an issue.

That's not really true.
Part numbers don't guarantee how long they'll be made for any number of years.
Part numbers aren't shared between companies.

And my strong smart home lighting knowledge may be running up against my electrical knowledge, but to my Knowledge, NONE of the connections for the integrated LED lights are standardized. Even so, looking up "18-Watt Samsung LED module" gives no buying options, and none that are 18-watt modules.

Happy if someone can show me the errors of my words, but this is a big topic right now in smart home lighting, as it stinks of the anti- self repair movement companies are using to grab cash. And these things will end up in the landfill faster because of it.

But if someone knows where to buy a standardized, compatible modules, let me know.

El Cheapo Home Depot isn't using or developing a bespoke led module. They are grabbing one off the shelf.

I have clients installing 20k cleanroom lights in a facility. None of the LED driver/modules can be bought at an Ace hardware. But the light manufacturer while having a bespoke light fixture even uses an off the shelf module out of Germany.

You like the Edison socket. More power to you.

Can you show me a place to buy the "18 watt Samsung led module"?

I DON'T like Edison socket. But then I think the fact we still use wall outlets is a damn disgrace.

Even SAMSUNG doesn't have a place to buy the module 🙃

I bought this fan in January. No idea what the rpms are on high but it doesn appear to spin nearly as fast as a 60', and that's ok. Moves enough air from 19' above the floor to feel a light air circulation, but it's not blowing papers off the table. Could be a different story if it were at the standard height. Light is a good mood setter but you'll need additional lighting if you want a "bright" room. I installed it and thought it was defective when it began switching directions on its own during start up, bitnthat the dc motor gears syncing. Couldnt be happier with it, however. At this price, it's a stellar deal

Yeah, I understand that feeling. And, to that point, this doesn't NEED the light, it's a big ass fan.

But, if the use case is the light and fan, this is NOT a replaceable part, to my knowledge.

Side note: I did increase the use of my fan lights when I added smart bulbs. Being able to have light on demand instead of guessing how many pulls I needed to get the light right, made a world of difference.

There is some truth to what the guy says. My experience was that when my non-standard led porch light went out, I had to replace the entire thing, no replacement was offered. I simply returned it to HD and complained, received a full credit in store to replace it, selected something I could put a smart bulb in and now have full control of temp, color, brightness, everything a smart bulb offers. Additionally, I bought a ceiling fan on clearance from hd, led didn't work out of the box, I could see one wire had come out of the connector, I called and had it replaced by the manufacturer, but the proprietary thing is not the connector, it is the size and shape of the led panel, every model is very specific. I did check later on the HD website and replacement parts are available but I think they wanted $80 for the led panel and who knows how long it will be available for. Q&A section for this particular item actually has a response from the company rep saying replacement parts are readily available. It is what it is. I am of the opinion that the standard sockets is the easiest replacement solution for all my lighting. Nothing lasts forever

Sold out in black. I've been looking for a fan that doesn't require a module in the junction box. Too bad this didn't work out.
