SlickdealsForumsDeal TalkAffinity Creative Software Spring Sale: 50% Off: Affinity Designer, Photo, or Publisher (Windows/Mac Digital Download) $26.99 & More via Affinity.Serif
I switched over to these from photoshop to save some cash and I absolutely love them.
I ended up buying both for PC and for my iPad. Worth it at any price to no longer support adobe's greed IMO.
If you're looking to touch up photos by adding/removing/modifying parts of digital images in formats like png, jpg, bmp, etc (aka "photoshopping" something) you probably want the Photos product. It's equivalent to Adobe Photoshop. A free open source alternative if you want to get a feel to what this class of products can do is GIMP.
If you need to create vector / graphics design images to work with or have things printed by a professional printer you need Designer which is equivalent to Adobe Illustrator. A free open source alternative if you want to get a feel for what this class of products are about is Inkscape.
Affinity software is very capable software and I say that having an Adobe CC subscription. If I no longer had that subscription, i'd switch over 100% and not be concerned whatsoever.
Canva is very capable too but I don't have a lot of experience with it.

If I'm not confusing software, this is version 1.9 or something, and 2.0 has been on the horizon for a while, right? Either way though, it probably would be good for many more years as is.
I'm still unsure if I should buy though. I don't really do design, although it'd be nice to have something on hand when I start doing some minor web and game dev. There are more and more free alternative software these days... like photopea is a free web browser based Photoshop clone
Edit: this is what I was talking about with the versions...
For some reason I had to Google to get this price. The provided link keep giving me the price in GBP (about 20% more expensive). Happen to anyone else?
Reaching out to those who may read this thread. I'm a teacher at a small school, and we are fortunate to have Photoshop due to grants and discounts. If those are not available in the future I will need alternatives. I have kept my eye on Affinity, but am very intrigued by Canva as we just got the education version for our school. Any one with experience with these in lab setting have thoughts?

I have an iPad Pro and Intel Mac, is there any benefit in getting both versions? or should i just get one version and work off that? I'm getting sick of the adobe subscriptions. Any noticeable difference between ios and osx versions?
Good deal! Paid $37.99 for the PC version of Affinity Designer in November. It's a better deal than the $20.99 a month to use Illustrator. It's still got a ways to go to match it in terms of features but the price is tough to beat.

Is it as complete an application using the iOS version? How much are you losing from the full OS X version?
