Does this one have the high-pitched whine that the Midea U does?

So, skip this and get a u-shaped? 😂
U does not have heat pump reversing valves for heating. Wish it did as I'm wanting to heat/cool just the home office most days.

Ok wait I'm thinking back it's for the 12k u shaped for 339. This was yesterday. The sale didn't start til today. To my knowledge the u when I looked on the box didn't say anything about heat mode.

Good to point out, thanks. I shall be waiting for one with that feature in a saddle form factor (that doesn't suck)

Think they both have inverters
U shape makes it slightly hard for home invasion. Also slightly more energy efficient. This one has heat. For me this should allow me to operate the unit from mid March through almost Dec in most cases.

doh wasn't meant for you. for the other person.

anyways you are correct they are all inverter units.

Bought on the 13th for 339.99 & Just requested a price match to 279.99.

Online Chat won't help. you need to use the online price match form.

Thanks OP

Good luck I have been waiting years just for the u shape.

Medea if your listening, make the unit that goes outside shorter (9" ) and then a bit wider or longer instead. Keep the same face plate you already have.

There are many apartment windows that just don't have that extra height.

Ha. Thanks. I'm just making excuses not to buy the U. Heat isn't really an issue for us (TX and this is supplementing central HVAC). I like the idea of a sill saddle better — using the wasted space underneath the window, and it seems like it would play better with blackout curtains — but the drainage issues on the Soleus saddle units does seem to be a legitimate concern.

Oh I gotcha. Yes I agree. Sometimes we have to get the unit that is the best price... Lol

Price match could take 5-7 days.

Just wanted to save people the 45 minutes of time I wasted waiting for Costco online chat, as they weren't helpful with the price match.

Could I use this as a portable AC without putting in a window? Also, any idea how much power it draws if working off a generator? I'm starting to plan for summer hurricane issues along the Texas Gulf Coast.

I've heard both, the u shape makes it a little quieter yet, but both styles of inverter ac are very very quiet. For ultimate silence, get the u. Otherwise, your choice
I've had both. U shaped is quieter and more efficient. looks 10x better too
