I'm still sad we haven't seen a 4k / HDR of either of these.

You'd probably have to have "been there" when it came out. Nothing had ever been seen like it before, in fact it was disqualified from being considered for the "Best Special Effects" Oscar because it used "computer generated effects." Ahead of its time.

Greetings, Programs. Tempting, but I already have Legacy on BD and I'd probably be satisfied with the streaming quality on Disney+ for the original.

Great buy if you don't have Disney+, though!

Off topic, but so disappointing that Uprising only got 1 season. :-/

I watched the original fairly recently and couldn't understand why it's rated highly. But I like the movie The Wizard. lol.

You'd probably have to have "been there" when it came out. Nothing had ever been seen like it before, in fact it was disqualified from being considered for the "Best Special Effects" Oscar because it used "computer generated effects." Ahead of its time.

yeah I was around when it came out, but for whatever reason never saw it until the last couple years. Another one probably like that, where maybe in the time it came out it would be seen differently, is 2001.... I can't stand that movie, it's just a ship sitting there and no dialogue. lol.

Unfortunately, Tron legacy was shot on 1080p digital. Sadly, a 4K will be an upconvert from 1080p. Disney can't justify the effort since they won't see the same ROI from Tron as the similar era Star Wars films shot on 1080p equipment.

I wouldn't count on a significant improvement even if they rerelease as 4K.

I didn't think it was supposed to be good, I thought it was more of a cult classic?

I saw an early midnight showing of classic Tron on opening day with a few friends in high school, 38 years later one of them contacted me and said we should go to Tron: Legacy on opening night! Blast from the past on multiple levels. They changed their flight for something family related and came in a day early Smilie
