I'm still sad we haven't seen a 4k / HDR of either of these.

You'd probably have to have "been there" when it came out. Nothing had ever been seen like it before, in fact it was disqualified from being considered for the "Best Special Effects" Oscar because it used "computer generated effects." Ahead of its time.

The truth being you have the worst taste in movies imaginable? I believe it.

Wow. I'm sorry to hear that.

Legacy was and is the best in 3D. I've become that guy that says that kind of thing in every movie thread but it's really true here. 3D on a 120" screen with that soundtrack up loud? It's a great ride haha

Just watched my blu-ray of Tron Legacy that I bought when I worked at Blockbuster. It holds up extremely well and according to RLM the D+ streaming version forgoes the full frame IMAX screen ratio that the blu-ray has. There's a lot of set-piece scenes that take up the full screen and have increased detail so I would highly recommend going physical on this one

Tron may have had great special effects when it was first released but it has not aged well. Tron Legacy is still great.

I feel the same way about star wars (all of them) and the lord of the rings movies, they are only meh. Never could figure why everyone loves them so much. Tron for me is above star wars and the lord of the rings in regards to watching it again, but not much above them.
What's odd on that one is I avoided the lotr movies for MANY years and then when i watched them I loved them. So sometimes i like movies more than I think I will. I bought all of the harry potter movies on a sale and still have never watched one because I don't THINK I will like them, but who knows... Also, i bought the first six star wars movies, but I think I may just be remembering them as better than i truly thought at the time and just let a sale get me to buy them, anyway.

Umm, like almost no effects from that time have aged well. That's why Lucas kept screwing around. But in this case I think the effects in Tron could be viewed as video games from the time...which saves a lot of it.

I think fans of the original film were disappointed in Legacy's effects because the first film had rule breaking stuff no one had seen before that time. But we had all seen 3d before and CGI by the time Legacy came out. The de-aging stuff was fairly new at the time though.

You mean the animated film "WIZARDS?"
If so, I think we discovered why you don't like those other films. Those are dramas, wizards is like an alternative art film.

yeah I was around when it came out, but for whatever reason never saw it until the last couple years. Another one probably like that, where maybe in the time it came out it would be seen differently, is 2001.... I can't stand that movie, it's just a ship sitting there and no dialogue. lol.
I thought the same thing when I first saw 2001. Then I went home, read the book, and saw the movie again. It was a whole different experience.

There are some neat Easter eggs in the Legacy disk that are worth looking up. There are instructions floating around from years ago on how to find them.
