Pretty much makes the soundbar and television work together. Turn the TV on the soundbar turns on as well. Volume is also synced. Essentially it eliminates having two controllers and simplifies everything.

Also nice when you have a roku or google chromecast tv then 3 items one remote.

Yeah, unfortunately I have an older (Vizio) TV without the HDMI-ARC input and I am using the Optical In. That is fine for the sound with the Roku Streambar Pro I bought, but I need an HDMI as well. And, no sound for my Shield or Chromecast. I need a new TV with the ARC!

Not a recommendation, but this Vizio 2.1 has arc and was on sale for $99 last week (renewed): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08PMN1NB4

It looks like Vizio has a lot of soundbars - I wish there was a good comparison matrix. :|

I would get a JBL Bar 3.1. I personally like good deep bass for movies and music so it really fit my needs before I went to a 5.1 home theater system.

I feel like with tvs these days, you can get away with a cheaper unit (hell, I have a TCL 55'' i bought for 280). But really, sound quality is something that drastically improves overall experience.

My home theater system which cost me around ~$450 dollars ($180 jamo 5.0, $150 klipsch ssw12 and $100 flea market receiver) is worth more than my television set.

Thanks, I'll look into it. And yes! Precisely I just bought my first smart TV and it's a TCL but was $200 for a 55" but sound is subpar at best..

Arc allows you to get much higher quality audio than optical. It's the only way to get Dolby Digital Plus or Dolby Atmos audio.
