This is a solid deal for this razor, and matches its all-time lowest price from a year ago.

Admittedly I am slightly tempted to give it another try since I like the idea of an electric razor, but I had a mediocre experience last time I tried a Series 9. IMHO a regular razor provides a better, more reliable shave that's probably better for the skin with shaving cream and after-shave. YMMV for all different hair and skin types.

Braun also introduced a Series 9 Pro with minimal improvements, so this may be an outgoing model.

I am going to give it a try. I also prefer disposable razors, but the current job site smells to high hell. It's not uncommon to leave the jobsite smelling like a funky potato chip. Showering after work is the only way to make sure I don't stink up my bed. This shaver will hopefully make it easier for a pre-work ritual. I would normally shave after a shower, so the hairs were nice and primed. No more going to bed with razor burn and still waking up looking unshaved.

Legitimately enjoying this shaver. It's almost as good a cut as a disposable razor, but much quicker (not having to lather up). Not sure how well the cleaning will work, but so far so good.

Glad to hear it's working for you!

A razor like this is definitely ideal for someone that depends on having a close shave every day.

FYI - you do have to get in the razor head every once in a while with the brush they provide. The cleaning base does a fine if not noisy job at sanitizing the razor.

I've been thinking about trying either this or the Braun Series 9 Pro for around $100 more. The difference in shaving quality seems to be minimal but it could be enough to make the difference for me where it didn't work before. My facial hair grows in different directions so it can be a challenge for an electric razor, and I also have particularly sensitive skin. I've tried so many different types of razors and they all have their pros and cons.

I lost my 10 years old 7 series few weeks ago when on vacation. Just received this from Costco. Will test it out.

I think the beauty of this shaver is that it has many different ways to engage the hair. With previous shavers I had to go over the area with different angles and try to grab the hairs that it would miss. I think the fact that Braun has a good combination of foils for different hair growth patterns is why I don't experience as much "razor burn" as I did with shavers in the past. I can make a vertical and horizontal pass through most areas and it'll shave great. Some areas may require a little more sweeping, but for the most part it does a good job at picking up the hairs.

Barbers that have tried it on clients' heads swear by the Series 9. It's definitely a powerful machine for cutting hair, and I think any men with a thick dense beard will appreciate it the most. I'm not sure that means that electric razors are for everyone for face shaving as there are a lot of variables to consider, but of course the easiest way is to purchase it and test on your own hair and skin. I do think it's capable of a serviceable shave with a little effort and troubleshooting, like any razor. My main issue is that I've given the Series 3 and Series 9 a chance over several weeks and my skin didn't acclimate to either. Oddly from memory I experienced more patchiness with the Series 9. This may partially be on me since I wanted to test whether I could do daily shaving with them, so I used them every night before bed to mitigate irritation for about a month each. Normally I find shaving 1-2 times per week to be ideal for me, although the reason I tried a foil razor to begin with is for shaving daily. It seems like the easiest and most efficient method.

I'm thinking about spending the extra money for a Series 9 Pro since I've tried the standard Series 9 three years ago and it didn't pass as usable long-term, which would have thrilled me since I've tried a lot of razors throughout the years. If the Series 9 Sport is working well for you then I wouldn't even worry about the minimal improvements in the new generation. I've also heard this may be $149.99 in-store at Costco, which is a fantastic price. I wonder if the new Pro heads are interchangeable. Then again I also may just stick to my single-edge razors, which provide the best shave with the lowest level of irritation. Electric razors intrigue me since I like the idea of them, and Braun has an excellent design philosophy. Even the old Series 3 looks phenomenal, and the Series 9 Sport and Pro look so futuristic and sleek it almost justifies the price alone. I'd just hope for an irritation-free shave that's as consistent as possible, but I think they are creating the best foil razors on the market. It all comes down to individual needs.

I purchased this the other day. After many years of shaving with multi-blade razors, I have made the change to electric and am so happy I did! In no time at all, using this gives me a baby-soft face, almost as close as with a blade! I am willing to sacrifice the minute difference in shaves for the convenience and flexibility this Braun gives me. I keep it on my desk at home and while I am surfing the net shave my face without shaving cream or water. It's so easy and I find myself rubbing my hand over my face during the day and if I feel a little stubble, grab the razor while reading Twitter and make it baby soft again! I highly recommend this razor, you won't regret getting it!

I went with a cheaper Panasonic electric which didn't cut very well before going to this Series 9, been very happy with it. You do need to replace the cleaning cartridge every so often as the alcohol evaporates even if you rarely use it, but I figure it keeps the blades clean and sharp. The trimmer on the back doesn't cut as well as my old Phillips so I keep that around just for the sideburn areas but otherwise no complaints.

I have to echo the sentiment that I've been having a more favorable experience than I have in the past, although I opted for the Series 9 Pro which was on-sale for $249.99. I'll continue testing and provide more feedback.

I purchased it the other day and it's a new "sport" model. Have not tried with creme yet, but it can be used with shaving cream or a pre-shave lotion and then immersed under water to clean it! No need to use a cream as it does not chafe your skin at all! I shave at my home office desk, lol... so much more convenient than standing over a sink with water running.

This is a fantastic shaver. Please give it 30 days before you decide if you like it. Electra Shave helps. I own this Braun, the Norelco Prestige 9000 and the Panasonic Arc 5. I also own the new Braun 7 Series and an 8 Series. The 9 series is my favorite but the Panasonic does cut closer. The Norelco is only good if you have 5 or more days of growth but it does not cut as close as the others.

I may have to try a shaving oil for lubrication since it seems like using it dry against the skin is causing unnecessary razor burn, but I'm having the best experience with the Series 9 Pro ($249.99 on-sale previously) that I've had out of all the Brain razors I've tested.

It seems to be both more gentle and efficient, providing perhaps not quite as close of a shave in favor of preventing irritation which is my preference. I may have to give serious consideration to keeping this alongside my single-edge razors.

I initiated a return after my first use since I expected it to be like the other Braun razors I've had where I could hypothetically use it all summer and not have my skin adjust, but the Pro does seem to do just enough different to be more usable. The first shave admittedly ruined my day, but that was also with a week of hair growth. This razor still shines with 1-3 days of stubble. I'm also using a more proper shaving routine, opening and closing pores with hot/cold water to mitigate irritation, which has made a difference. I could try wet shaving as well since the razor responds surprisingly well to a good shaving cream, it just slightly makes the concept of an electric razor less necessary.

So yes, Braun is capable of making high-quality razors that can work for just about anyone with the proper routine and technique. I'd also suggest either going for the Series 3 as a starter razor or Series 9 for the best shave possible, as the difference in performance is likely to be worthwhile compared to Braun's mid-tier razors.

Give this stuff a try, I swear by it. Walmart carries it too.

The Braun is no good for a weeks worth of growth, 1 to 3 days would be more like it. The Norelco can cut though a weeks worth of growth with no problem but it does not cut as close as the others.

Thanks, I might have to try either that or Shave Secret which uses all-natural essential oils. Lubrication could make a significant difference.

I tested a full shave with a high-quality shaving cream and it made the shave more comfortable but it didn't feel natural since I like to shave with and against the grain simultaneously.

Series 9 Pro has made quite the difference, although I've also incorporated a much better and more comprehensive shaving routine. It might have one additional shaving element, and it seems gentler overall.
