What sleeping bag? At this point, you bring your whole setup: pillows, blankets, comforter and your teddy bear.
While I don't have this, a benefit of a cot is being up off the ground and able to store stuff under you as tents can be pretty limited on space

Aside of added space, being off the floor also keeps you warmer.
It is padded. Definitely more comfortable that the ground.

1. In most of the cases when I went camping you needed to do a decent hike until the camping spot, if you are willing to lug this thing along you have well earned the extra comfort.
2. If your camping trip consists of driving a car (why not a carriage if you are feeling like a vagrant btw?) and setting up camp next/close to it you are already so far from being a vagrant as to make the "sacrifice" fairly hypocritical.
This is actually incorrect. When using an air mattress in cold weather it's better to be directly on the ground. When elevated this allows the cold air to cool you from top and bottom.

I find it much more comfortable than air mattress - yes, its bulky but so is this - have used it in freezing temps OK
