They don't refurbish them. They basically test them and make sure they work and resell. It's a nicer way of saying "open-box" without saying open box

In for 1. Similar deal about 5 or 6 months ago and I got one then for a game drive on my pc. It has been solid and problem-free and I've been extremely happy with the performance. I got the same benchmarks as advertised. This time I'm buying one for my ps5.

definitely check with crystaldiskinfo for TBW. I got some geek squad refurb 970 EVO 2TB Nvme, and one had around 300TBW on it even though it said it was only powered on for around 15 days. So just make sure. I say anything less than 5TBW should be good to go. Anymore, then you question if it's really a fair use of open box and might consider returns. Note WD SN850 2TB is 239 on amazon and occasionally goes down to $233. The 980 Pro and the SN850 trade blows so I would say they are essentially the same though the 980 Pro does have Samsung magician and migration software which is makes upgrades more seamless.

You can get a new one with a full warranty for $270 on Amazon. Not a big difference.
