I've been using the sennheiser hd6xx from drop but the dt990 are still some of my favorites and surely the most comfortable I've used. The sound is good on the dt990 just not a very deep or bass tone to them.
I think this is like the lowest price ever on this model. It is really comfy I wore it for an entire day and because it is open back it doesn't trap heat and moisture.
Excellent deal. I have a pair of these that are pretty close to 15 years old and due for another set of pads. I figure at this price, I'll skip the $45 OEM pads and just get a new set, using my old set as backup.

I'm thinking the closed-back is of interest for me, but this looks to be a great reviewed item $55 cheaper than Amazon's price:

People saying you need an amp have ever owned one.
Obviously will be better with an amp, you don't need one.
I own DT 770, 990, and 1990. I can assure you they will work without an amp.
Good for gaming, but they are open so audio will leak in and out.
For $100 you can't beat this.
These are much more portable than any Sennheiser as well. Very flexible and well built.
