I am not sure if you are saying it does not sense for WB to release it digitally in 2016 and then wait anotehr 6 years and do a new transfer. Or if it does not make sense to do DV digitally and HDR10 for the disc.
My understanding is DV is fairly easy to do for digital copies but a lot harder for discs since you have to split files over 2 or 3 layers and that is compounded by the max bitrates available depending on where you are on an optical discs since the inner circles does not spin as fast as the outside rings, thus max bitrate goes up.
I would hope this is a new transfer but given it is still HDR10 (at least a lack of DV in the press release) make me believe this is not going to have any better HDR than the existing option. I hear that HDR is lackluster as well.
Doesn't make sense to make a digital transfer, then make another one 6 years later, especially involving HDR.
I would assume the digital one has HDR, for those that do not have a DV capable display.
I'm willing to gamble that converting a movie to that metadata is costly and time consuming.
You might have a point with DV(HDR), since it's dynamic HDR, you get what you get there is no manipulation.
HDR is only as good as the transfer and your displays capabilities.
Digitally HDR vs DV(HDR) is not a big difference if at all.

The safe bet is this is the same master from from streaming being put on disc without revising it.
Edge of Tommorrow is being remastered right now after that crappy Dolby Vision version was widely hated by consumers. I'm in and can't wait to see it.
Same! I'm so happy they actually did it!
purchased, along with Last Night in Soho. The first 95% of the movie was fun, intriguing, and beautifully shot. That's good enough for me to want the physical 4K.
Hopefully when the 6-pack of Jurassic movies come, it gets this cheap.
If they stop at 6, it might hold its value for a lot longer. The reason these sets are going so cheap is because they need room for the new sets that replace the 5 movie sets. If there are no new sets to replace the upcoming 6 movie set then that will be what sticks around
Nope, I have made numerous purchases from Gruv with that discount code. I always apply the code first, then login. Not sure if that matters, but hasn't failed me yet.

Back in stock . . . just in case you don't get it though: the dinosaurs get out.
Yea I agree. It will need a good transfer to be worthwhile to upgrade from BD.
If you have a good upscaling player and a good setup BD is pretty good.
