Also, some one probably pondering this same thing: Should I get mini 3 instead?
min 3 Pro (with RC-N1 controller, the one without screen) + SD card - bag = $789
that's $449.01 difference, enough to buy one more mini 2
Lose: better sensor, better avoidance, can use larger battery (47 vs 34), etc
I am going to buy this one and use the remote for future upgrade to mini 3.
Of course, if you never intend to get your commercial drone license (which you'll need for ANY flying that would or could be done for compensation, even if you're not being compensated - yes, this includes filming for your YouTube channel) then there's no reason to splurge on a drone with a better camera. You'll have plenty of fun with one of these, but I'd just get a mini se for $300.
Btw the 47 min flight time is not the standard flight time with the Mini 3 pro, that's with the more expensive extended batteries that push the weight of the drone into registration-required weight.
And, of course, you can't actually buy the mini 3 pro and have it right now.. they aren't shipping until closer to July which is half the summer in some parts of the country!
You have to maintain line-of-sight with your drone while flying, no reason you should hit things unless you're not paying attention. Beginners should be learning in a large, open field, with nothing to hit for hundreds of yards.
I never use obstacle avoidance and I fly a 4 lb drone.

Obstacle avoidance sensors are intended to help your drone stop itself before it hits something. The mini 2 basically doesn't have it. The mini 3 has some obstacle avoidance sensors.
Common sense is what some people have, obstacle avoidance is what some drones have

And I wouldn't think of the Mini 3 Pro as the update/upgrade to the Mini 2, as much as the Mini 3 is in the 1K+ class of drone with a similar namesake. You don't confuse the Mini 2 for the Mavic Air or whatever. If that is where you are looking, compare up there. If you want something around $450-$500, look at the Mini 2. $300ish, look at the Mini SE.
I will say that this thing is amazing to fly and record with but a caveat I didn't realize was/is the restricted flight zones lol. I live inside the beltway in Washington DC and I need to drive about 15 minutes to be able to fly it to get out of 15 mile white house no fly zone radius. Huge PITA. Wish there was a way around it since I'd just like to fly it in my neighborhood park.
I'm not a fan of these fake $100 off sales where they give you a gift card instead of real money, anyway, Either cut the price or shut up.
