you are so clueless, why dont you stop the CA BS. Sales tax in CA is no higher then in many other states. I live in CA and pay 8%

No. The chat agent claimed the MSI deal was never eligible for the promo, based on the retrospective promo tools they have on their end. This was clearly false because the MSI laptop clearly said "Shop Card Eligible" on the product page during the ongoing promo at the time.

Because I didn't have a screenshot of the promo, I shared the slickdeals link of the promo (that linked to Costco.com). The agent then blamed slickdeals for false advertising, and I had to argue that slickdeals was simply reflecting what was advertised on Costco.com, which I and other people had personally verified prior to ordering. That particular agent didn't listen and refused to budge.

Be wary this time around and take screenshots.

Its actually 1TB of storage. The key thing for me is that it has two USB 4/Thunderbolt 4 ports. The following is from the LG website. (https://www.lg.com/us/laptops/lg-...lim-laptop)

I used to work on sales tax regulation as a profession. States used to be barred from collecting sales tax on online sales from companies outside their borders, due to an old Supreme Court case. The Supreme Court overruled that precedent a few years ago so now all States that have a sales tax will collect sales tax on online purchases. California can be unique in other ways though for example they will tax the original amount of the cost. In the past this was most noticeable on "free" cellphones. A company would give you a cell phone for free if you signed up for a contract. Most states wouldnt tax it since it was free, but Cali would tax it at its retail price so youd pay like 100 bucks in sales tax on a free phone.

i doubt they will. i'm just gonna use it before 90 day return period is up. if costco wants to eat the loss of $1000+ instead of giving the $150 cash card, good for them

Yes, but I'm actually okay with this. By paying $1300 and then getting a shop card promo, you get $1200 worth of warranty coverage for 4 years (instead of $500). If your tax rate is around 8% that's like paying $50 to buy $700 more warranty which would totally be worth it to me.
