The initial pending charge was just to verify that your card is valid and has sufficient credit. If the phone is not shipped soon after that, that pending charge will fall off. As long as your order status doesn't show cancelled, it's OK.

I traded in a refurb Tracfone Samsung A51 for $70. The attachments show what questions they asked regarding its condition, and what they checked.

So as long as it works and there's no cracks, it'll be accepted? What if the phone has major scratches and dents?

If they didn't ask about scratches and dents on the body, can they use those to reduce value? I don't know.

I have already paid for next 2 months on my number so was planning to use the new phone once it arrives for another 28 days on my current provider. After that, I will put the google fi sim back in the phone and activate it and then continue using it. From what I see in the forum, this should be okay (using unlocked phone on current provider before activation).

Thoughts?

The terms of the promo say "Activate the phone on a new full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email and keep the qualifying phone active on Google Fi for 120 consecutive days.

You also need to "bring/transfer your number to Fi within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email".

Depending on how quickly you receive the phone after the "shipped" email and how smoothly the port-in goes, you might not have 28 days before the deadline to activate. Don't cut it too close and mess up your promo.

28 days is cutting it really close, esp with google's support if something goes wrong. Is losing out on $600 worth the 1 month of service?

I thought about trading in my A71 that I got for $55 from an HSN deal with 1 year of service, but it's a pretty second phone / media consumption device / toy for $70, so I decided to keep it. Performance is a bit sluggish compared to flagship phones, but the OLED screen is gorgeous, and rest of the specs are amazing for a $70 device (6GB RAM, 128GB Storage, MicroSD Slot).

I got 3 A51s (two brand-new, one refurb) free from Tracfone with reward points, so decided to trade in the refurb one for some credit. I like the A51 for the same reasons you like the A71. I got them unlocked by TF and am using one with a free FreeUp AT&T SIM.

I mistyped. I also got a couple of A51s from the HSN deal. I wish it was an A71. Lol.

At around $55 with 1 year of 1500/1500/1500 service (after all CB etc), it was an amazing deal that never came back. I bought before they changed the unlock policy, so I'll get them unlocked when the 1 year is up in Nov.

looks like as long as there's no major scratches, it should be fine

I have a S21+ .They sent me the trade-in box .Debating on sending it in, sell it on CL ,or trading it in to BB for same amount $380 in a gift card. Phone is perfect and just dont like the horror stories of trade-ins.
