IPS panels tend to handle motion better.
Both can be used for gaming, neither is 'bad.' Just depends on personal preference.
It's true, 100hz is only for displayport and hdmi maxes out at 85hz. I see a difference from 100 to 85, but 85 is still better than 60!

At this price there's no IPS display that comes close though. I'd 100% buy it again.

Great for everyday use - side by side windows etc. but also great for gaming. I play several games at native resolution and I have a 5700XT card - which handles it fairly well with decent FPS. Skyrim on ultrawide is awesome !
I compared it side by side with the IPS panel (does not have the 100Hz) - and the colors I thought were better / more realistic with better contrast on the VA panel.
Could care less for the OnScreen control software. Its not bad but a bit clumsy to use
