I generally have 200 tabs open, as well as other memory intensive programs. The M1 laptops are amazing (I use one), but the M1 isn't magical and doesn't change physics. The memory for programs lives somewhere, either in RAM or on the SSD. Once the RAM is full, the extra memory needed is stored on the SSD. In other words, if you need a lot of RAM, there will be many writes/swaps to the SSD, even if it's nearly instantaneous and barely noticeable to the user. If I were to try to use 8GB of RAM I would likely be writing hundreds of GB to the page file daily, wearing out the SSD prematurely, possibly within 2-3 years. Even with 16GB of RAM I still have heavier writes than I'd prefer.

The solution isn't "use fewer tabs" or "close programs" since I know my optimal work flow and use a device that can handle it. I understand the desire for 16GB of RAM (or even more).

Because MacBook Air configurations with 16 GB RAM are available and sold by apple, they just aren't available at Costco...if 16 GB RAM was completely unnecessary in a MacBook Air then why does Apple make a version with it in general?

Also some people just want to future-proof their laptop

Any thoughts on whether the Integrated Intel® UHD 750 Graphics card can support 2 monitors? The need is business-related, not high-demand gaming.
You have to check the model:
XPS8940-7061BLK-PUS 11700

I couldn't find a "quick" good answer. Dell's website showed a 360 view with only one hdmi, one displayport but then lower it shows a video card with multiple outputs, which means it's a generic image.

At this point, if you want business, make sure it's Windows 11 (it is) and make sure it supports dual-4k monitors, since most good 27"+ monitors that's the default.

You CAN always add a separate video card down the road.

I wish Apple sells pre-configured 16gb model so we can purchase from Costco etc.

I've personally tried 8gb M1 MBA, 14inch Pro and 16gb M1 MBA. To me, 16gb MBA works the best. I wish Apple upgrades MBA in 14inch form factor.

I see a lot of people all the time asking for 16gb ram macbook airs. What are they planning to do with these things? I've had no problem with my base macbook air running 20 tabs in a browser along with ableton live or logic pro with any reasonable amount of plug-ins. This combination of programs is very processor and RAM intensive and works way better than my windows desktop. The m1 architecture does not use RAM like people may expect.
My 8gb air used 10-20 gb a day of swap space for pretty minimal stuff, really do not want to put that much wear on a non-replaceable SSD.

Would that one, or either of the other desktops, be acceptable for 1440P gaming?

I'm a very light gamer so I don't have an answer for you. Mainly want it for photo and video editing.

Nice concept of a mouse.
Three configurations. Can use it with 3 computers. For example, one computer with the USB dongle and two with bluetooth. Or three computers with bluetooth.

This person is right! What purpose does 16gb of RAM on an 8 year old, 9 year old! or 10 year old M1 MacBook serve?! Oh yah, that's right. The M1 is only a couple of years old. This person must know something we don't. Maybe they've got a time machine! Or maybe some of us with fully functioning 2012 MacBooks with 16gb of RAM know something you don't?

That computer is not a bad setup. I have the I9, 10900k, 1060oc and had 32gigs of memory, now I have 64gig, and have no problem running games on my 27", 2k, 1440p monitor. Now, I'm not much of a gamer either but I did play the new Doom game with out a hitch. For $900, I might take a chance on it. And it's Costco, returning it would not be a problem.
