Yeah, it's good. It suffered from bad advertising or it'd be a trilogy by now.

I enjoyed John Carter a lot but I was also a big fan of the books. They are a great easy short read for those interested.

Not sure if some of you knew....but the author of John Carter is the same person who wrote the Tarzan books.

It's a good sci-fi movie. I think it didn't do so well in the box office because most people had no clue what movie titled "John Carter" would be about.
Also, I wish it were 4K...

Is John Carter any good? What's it comparable too (he asks knowing this is a bad idea)?

I watched it on disneyplus after reading this:https://www.thewrap.com/john-cart...it-failed/

Never had an interest in seeing this before (planetary romance is not my go-to genre) but the movie overall wasn't "bad." I guess if I had to suggest a comparable movie, maybe Krull?

As others have said, it's a pretty good movie. I got it back when its digital codes were super rare and I paid twice as much for it, so it's definitely worth the $5.

I was waiting or John Carter to go on sale again. Just picked it up, so thanks. Bought Tron: Legacy last year. The visual eye candy and soundtrack is worth it alone.

Tron's 40 anniversary is July 9th. I haven't seen any hints out there but wouldn't it be great to see Tron and Tron Legacy in 4k atmos?

All are included with Disney+ subscription if you don't care about owning it digitally. I think there's a thread for $3 Disney subscription add on that stacks with the $1 Hulu deal.

I enjoyed it! I was surprised it wasn't more popular.

Doubtful to happen given Disney only cares about buying other studios and not about putting out new transfers or audio mixes.

There were some parts that were poorly done, and it was a production mistake to give the movie such a high budget, but it was not a bad movie.
If they had spent that same budget to make *two* movies instead of just one it wouldn't have gotten such bad press for being a bomb, and they would've focused more on the story instead of trying to make it an eye-dazzling treat.
It's too bad because I think I would've enjoyed a trilogy

I very, very much doubt John Carter will ever get the 4K treatment. It lost $200 million at the box office, and it never became a hit on home video. It would be a huge waste waste of money to upgrade.
