FYI, i put one of these on my truck. I live in Michigan and the winters get pretty rough sometimes. Anyways over the coarse of about 6 months the lock got super corroded. Only way I found out was because we were about to leave for camping and I needed my other hitch. I couldn't get this thing off. All packed up and ready to go just a simple hitch swap….. nope the key wouldn't even go all the way in. Make sure you keep an eye on these because it delayed our trip big time
The Lock Picking Lawyer can do that to almost every brand of lock, so that in itself is not an indictment.

Most of these hitch pins are defeated by placing a bar over the pin, and then using the leverage to snap off the lock portion. This model is smart to make the lock side short and bent at 90 degrees.

No security measure is foolproof. The primary purpose of these is to make a lazy thief move to the next vehicle without one.
same rust here, but i just spray a lot of wd40 inside the lock, once a year. its rusted on outside but key still works great after 2 years of 24/7 use in minnesota, including winters with salt on roads

One time after I had my trailer parked at a campground I went for a drive in my truck and I had left the hitch pin on the bumper. When I got back it was gone. I had to drive far to a hardware store to get a new one so I could hitch up my trailer when it was check out time. That Sucked.

Similar experience, but it took mine well over a year before it got corroded. Obviously it would've lasted a lot longer if I hadn't kept it on 24/7. Anyway, at this price, I'm in for another. I don't mind having to replace it down the road…I just need to adjust my expectations. :-)

P.S.,) I wouldn't buy this if I didn't have an angle grinder to cut it off after the lock corrodes and no longer functions.

It seems that if you live somewhere with rough winter weather this will happen with them no matter what one you use. I had one of the locking ones from harbor freight and left mine on in NY this last winter and mine did the same thing. Luckily there was just enough room to fit my sawzall blade in to cut it off.

In NC, ditto x2. Mine was a PITA to get off after 6-9 months. I ended up getting one like this https://www.amazon.com/Reese-Towp...B001IH6WDS but mine did not come with a lock, used a 4 number combo lock so there was no key to keep up with. Probably not as secure as a true locking receiver pin BUT I was more worried about someone stealing my weight distribution hitch as a crime of opportunity as opposed to someone showing up with the correct tools to cut the lock off.
