About this deal:
Offer available in-store only. Plus sales tax and activation fee.
A valid form of identification is required at time of sign-up to verify your address and other necessary account information (no credit check required)
Turns out it's 6 months for the phone to be unlocked. I'll pass.
These deals are useless unless you have a corporate store nearby.
Metro is a dirtball company. They hire scammy people who are trained to try shady stuff all of the time. Even the corporate stores have become shady. Stay away from these scammers and give your money to a more reputable company rather than these POS losers.

Usually I agree but there is one local store near me that is not corporate and they do not charge the $20 activation fee. I suggest people call their local store before going there. I know it's easier said than done, as I've tried and many of the stores don't answer their phones.
If NYTurbo was currently working, I might consider getting this then doing an unofficial lock through them... but even still, this is a phone that came out almost 3 years ago. Not sure the value is there.
This is worse deal than before because with previous deal you didn't really need to pay $60 for all 3 months. People reported that they downgraded after 1st month to the $30 plan and still got the $50 prepaid card after having paid 60+30+30 = $120 for 3 months.
Now you still end up paying 120 for 3 months but you don't get the $50 prepaid card.
I am very upset. I was about to take advantage of the previous deal.

I think it is. The iphone 11 through total/tracfone is still $300.
I was just there literally a few hours ago, I was given the old promo. At first when I got there I just asked about the iPhone 11 without mentioning any sort of promo, the salesperson(corporate store) was telling me about the same thing as the OP($40 line $99 iPhone) but before I had to pay the Manager told him that I needed to be on the $60 plan or else I wont get the $400 rebate and just get $100 rebate on the Phone, he actually showed his screen as he was processing the Sale, I wasn't aware of this current promo and was there to get the old promo so I didn't argue. and got the iPhone11 for $100+$60line+$12 insurance
The question is whether they will allow the $40 plan with this deal. We need some confirmation .
It says it right there on the website.

Authorized dealers are a hit or miss. Mostly misses but there have been few success stories here.
Corporate is ideal though. Anyone that has a corporate store nearby should definitely give it a try.
Never had to deal with Metro before.
I don't have any corporate stores close by. Could you, folks, explain what the issues with the authorized dealer stores are and how I can possibly mitigate them?
