Are people still getting $1000 for their 3070s to flip on ebay lol
Definitely not. You might get that for a 3080.

Note that HP motherboards won't run ram you buy elsewhere at XMP speed. You will need to manually overclock work Ryzenmaster.
You can get a matching stick from eBay or online retailers. You just need to look up the model number or use Crucial's memory checker. HP and Dell usually use Crucial RAM. You just put the PC's model number in on their site. Either that, or you can wait for the PC to arrive and get the model number from the RAM. With a matching stick, it'll run XMP by default.

Just bought one, and 10MDSHP worked for me under $1199. Got the 3060 Ti variant with 512 SSD for $906. Also used 10% off from another deal site, total came to $815 before tax. Tough to beat that price. Plan on buying another 8GB stick of Hyper X Ram for around $40. Also might get a water cooler, depending on thermals.

How did you get another 10%? Would be helpful to the less initiated.

Each is entitled to their own opinion. Out of the box I still feel my build is a better build for most people. In the other build the storage will be a problem quickly at 512 only allowing you to install a few games. The Ram can be upgraded but again you are spending money right away. And honestly at that point. You are better off building the whole pc.

Neither of these cards are 4k cards imo. And this is a budget build. You will lose 7-12% gpu performance at most which is better than the performance you'd lose form having only 8gb of ddr in single channel.

If you want it all pay the extra $200 or better yet opt for the 3080. But with this build you get a build that doesn't need upgrading immediately costing you hundreds over the initial sticker price. It will play all modern games at a good resolution and frame rate.

A 1tb NVME would cost you $200-300, and the ram another $150. And with the customer base of a prebuilt I doubt replacing parts and reinstalling windows is something they want to mess with.
Your build isn't better for gamers.

I'm not going to add to the other comments about your hardware price estimates being off the wall, but I will tell you that the 3070 is at least a 10% better GPU (some tests show 25%). That's a big deal for gamers. You're smoking crack if you think the ram makes up for that much of a difference. Buy a second 8 gbs of the same MHz ram for $30 and you'll be fine. 512gb is plenty for a main os drive, you can get an additional 1 tb ssd for $70 now (no need to reinstall windows), and it's easy to install a secondary drive. $100 additional total and you'll be good to go. That's the same price as the MSRP difference between the 3060ti and 3070 FE cards.

3080 for $200 more? That's the same retail price difference between a 3070 and 3080 so that's not a bad option at all.

I purchased this same PC a year ago and the RTX 3070 was 1st gen, before LHR version. Does anyone know if this is also the 1st gen RTX 3070?

This isn't totally true. Some of us who have bought the 25L or 30L recently have been able to set xmp profiles in bios to run 3rd party ram at full clock speed

Fellas, need a little help. All I want to play is Microsoft Flight Simulator. I am a computer novice.

Ordered this HP Envy from the deal couple days ago:
https://slickdeals.net/f/15801973-hp-envy-desktop-i5-12400-rtx-3060-ti-8gb-ddr4-512gb-pcie-ssd-thunderbolt-4-999-w-sd-cashback-free-s-h?src=SiteSearch

Got it for around 1070 shipped.

Can someone please advise if this setup is better than the Envy?

How to apply two coupons? I can only apply one coupon.

The envy you linked has a better CPU in that it's more future proof but realistically it's on the same level of performance as the 5600X in this Omen (but the intel consumes less power..). So aside from that, this Omen has a better GPU (graphics card, the most important part of a PC geared toward gaming).

The con with this Omen is that the Ryzen CPU is highly dependent on RAM speed for performance. The Intel on the Envy doesn't really see any measurable difference in gaming performance with slower RAM. With either PC you need to double the ram to play MSFS well as it's a super resource hog.

A game like MSFS will really benefit from as much graphical horsepower as you can get. Everything else being even: the 3070 would be better (this Omen).

Knowing HP will probably tell you to pound sand when you try to cancel, the bright side is you would be able to sell the 3060 ti (still hard to find) that comes in your Envy and buy a 3070 and probably only spend around $100 net in the process to upgrade.

Or, you might just be perfectly happy with the performance of the 3060 ti and decide to keep it. That Envy overall will consume much less wattage when running games, so there's that..

Thank you for taking time! I guess I will stick with Envy, if cancellation is a pain. I have never tried that with HP before. But will take your word for it.

The only advantage the MSI has is in storage and it has double the RAM, everything else about that PC has significantly less performance than this Legion. The RX 6600 graphics card is slower than a vanilla RTX 3060, and almost 50% slower than the 3070 that comes in this PC. The CPU in the MSI is also much slower than the Ryzen 5600X in this PC (way less cache and overall different architecture more geared towards office work). The only sorta-plus with the MSI is the CPU has (weak) integrated graphics but that's really not important as graphics cards are easily available now.
