I picked up a Macbook pro a little while back and it's kind of overkill for my needs. Thinking of switching it out for something cheaper. Literally just use it in the kitchen while I cook (looking up recipes, listening to music, etc). This looks like it should fit the bill.

It's compact, sturdy, and has just enough power to get you by. I am surprised you are not going with a tablet, not that I like tablets, tbh. MacBook for the kitchen is definitely overkill. You could have saved even more with the deal I posted a few days ago from eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/27488469...2749.l2649, but it's sold out already. This one was lighter, 20%-30% more powerful CPU and it was under $150 after coupons and CB. But you can't go wrong with either one.

Well... that is a perfect task for a Chromebook.
I purchased one and I can honestly state I will not purchase another.
....too many updates...Chrome OS only works with certain printers????
I tried booting thru an external drive....it requires more steps than a nuclear launch and still it didn't work.
Proprietary photo viewers and video players are wonky.... VLC became unresponsive and cannot be reinstalled.
You can use MS software but it requires special apps that need bugs fixed....
I thought of rooting my Chromebook and installing Linux Mint.
Get it at eBay (Acer Recertified Store) for $193.59 with a 2 yr warranty from Square trade included. $219.99 less 12% Acer coupon. Was $249. 2 wks earlier w 12% coupon, just sent back that one which was Great same as new and just received this lower priced one today. :+)
(Also Same as New!)
Fantastic deal, but not upgradable on ram I'm sure. They never are. I have the Spin 713 and it's awesome. Fantastic display too. This is perfect for kids and the AUE is unbeatable.
Why pay $259.(229 + $30 for 2 yr warranty), When you can get it for $193.?
Beautiful Screen, Backlit Keyboard, Update til 2029, 4 USBs, micro SD, 14" touchscreen, 2 in 1.
Can't beat it!

lots of ports, but a dim display (averaged 209 nits at its peak) according to review: https://www.laptopmag.c
