The app has 3 options:
Pickup at a local store ($35 min)
Delivery from local store ($35 min + tip)
Shipping (no min)

I worked for tips for years and I am against all forms of tipping. I now tip well because that is the norm and I've been there and know what it feels like. However no job should require you to live off of tips...

I agree that paying for a delivery service such as this and having to tip is ridiculous, especially for a company as financially successful as Walmart. They should pay your tip to the delivery person on behalf of your membership. If I pay $400 worth of groceries twice a month and then I have to pay a recommended 15-20% each delivery, that's a lot. What if $400 is my monthly budget? Obviously, the driver should get paid if they're bringing all of the groceries to the door but I shouldn't have to pay them out of my own pocket AND pay for your service.

Tip?

Are we supposed to start tipping our Amazon delivery drivers too?
I think Walmart contracts the delivery (as distinct from shipping). Amazon doesn't.

It can be pretty annoying still. Sometimes an item may be available for delivery from store and available to ship, but there may be no way to select shipping.

I don't use Amazon Fresh, so maybe I was misunderstanding what that was for. Assuming the person delivering you groceries was also the one who went up/down the aisles and basically went grocery shopping for you, then I would agree a tip would be warranted. It sounded like this was just for dropping off a package because Walmart is too cheap to pay people properly and wanted to shift the cost to the consumer directly. Though I assume they probably use 1099 contractors and do this anyway.
yeah, its all gig workers when they do the proper grocery deliveries. It get difficult to keep track of it all. Like, i don't tip the guy who brings my groceries out when i do a curbside pickup, but i DO tip the grocery delivery guy. But if i order groceries through walmart.com and they get delivered via a gig driver, they don't take tips.... or even usually stick around long enough to meet me at the door, just a quick doorbell ring, then they run back to the car.

The $35 minimum for free shipping stopped me many times when I was a member. I will pass.

I'm already a member and it comes up for me.
I joined May of last year when befr had a $50 cash back offer.
Walmart extended memberships 6 months when they eliminated the Rx benefit.
Can you expand on how you were able to sign up for this as a member already? It takes me to a sign up screen (I also am already a member).

Sams club+ is a whole other membership isn't it? That's trash. Why isn't it included for one fee? It's the same company.

Yes, for delivery from local store otherwise it's 5.99 delivery fee. No, for a regular walmart.com order.
I pay $0 delivery fee whenever any order amount is delivered to me at my house, from my local store. Not sure if that was a sign up special or bonus?

It looks like you're not eligible for this promotion

You can still sign up for Walmart+ and enjoy benefits like free shipping with no order minimum.

I almost always tip for delivery. Gas is not cheap for them. No need to be a cheapskate towards a person just trying to make a living!
