Annual Energy Consumption ‎| 20 Kilowatt Hours

The energy consumption rating feels fishy.

Don't forget to let these sit for about 24 hours before plugging them up to prevent compressor damage. I'm sure they won't stay upright during Shipping.

Refrigerators and chest freezers need to stay within a temp range. Taking them outside of this range is hell on the compressors.

They make "garage ready" units for conditions such as basements.

They didn't say it was a cellar. My basement has basically same conditions as the rest of house.

Back in the mid-'80s, I purchased a used refrigerator via a friend for $100. It was kept in my old farm house in an unheated kitchen here in hot/humid SC until 1991. Then, it was put under the exposed carport of my new home for many, many years until I just got rid of it, for $50. from the power company.

That's Great, but the manual states it should not be located in a garage and the operating temps should not go below 50 or above 85. I'd probably risk it, but that's me.

My main point was that "they don't make 'em like they used to."

And the power company is probably using it to keep beer and soda cold for the workers, because they know it will last another 40 years. Plus it will keep working after a thunderstorm. Bet it ain't black though.

Heck yeah, don't you know they be doing that & only cost them 50 bucks. It was my beer refrigerator also beginning in '91. I had 2 Murray mowers (back when they were at least passable) & would make periodic pit stops cutting my 3-1/2 acres. Then, I got an Exmark zero turn in 2001 & couldn't drink beer and mow at the same time, so it was expendable. It was a beautiful faded/weathered coppertone color.

Got it yesterday. Looks fine. Chilling now.

For the rule book people, the manual does say to let it stand for 4 hours to let the compressor settle. I figured why not. Also, no running around it with scissors after you eat for at least 30 minutes.

Mine arrive this morning, it had dents on nearly all sided of the item. I contacted Amazon and let them know expecting to get a 10 or 20 percent discount but they told me they would refund the entire amount of the refrigerator and let me keep it. This is very surprising considering how poor Amazon's customer service has gotten.

Crazy, was the damage on the bottom? The box isn't "that" bad except for the bottom. Way tooooo crappy there. I looked it over before it was brought into the house, but that's not going to be enough considering how bad the floor of the box is and that's where the fidge's guts are. I got lucky. Really silly packaging. Amazon is way less to blame here than Frigidaire. The delivery people were really good with it.

The unit I got is working well, though. 35 degrees in an hour set to about 3.5.

The box wasn't really beat up or anything. It seems as the packaging is just subpar and the dents aren't the shippers fault but Frigidaires. I have small dents on the top front and sides of the fridge, nothing terrible. I did not expect amazon to just refund the entire cost for the small damage, I only expected a small percentage off

Plenty of 65-year old round-top refrigerators still out there in garages keeping beer cold. Have to manually defrost periodically. But if you live somewhere with high kWh rates, you'd likely see a hit on your monthly bill.

Unlike the new "Energy Star" refrigerators that average $1500+ and last (if you're lucky) 6 years. What a cluster that whole schtick is!
