It's Imazapyr, plus I think some sort of surfactant. It definitely works, but don't put it near roots of trees you like.

This 1 gallon concentrate only covers 300 sq. ft. If you have much larger needs, the value play is to buy Imazapur/Ecomazapyr from some online farm supply for $40/quart. I double-dose by including glyphosate in my sprayer, plus some Dawn detergent to act as a poor-man's surfactant (sticks the chemicals to the plant).

First I mix the Glyphosate and water, add Dawn last so it doesn't suds up, and spray areas near trees that I don't want to harm. After those sensitive areas are sprayed, I add the Imazapyr to the mix and apply to areas that are not near tree roots.

Here's a product with all three [amazon.com] (Glyphosate, Imazapyr, surfactant) @ $35 for 4,000 sq. ft.

My DIY mix with water is:
- 41% Glyphosate (Roundup): 6-7 Tbl. = 3-3.5 oz. per gallon
- Imazapyr/Ecomazapyr 2 SL: 1.2 Tbl = 0.6 oz. per gallon
- Surfactant [amazon.com], when used with Glyphosate: 1 Tbl per gallon

No coupon here. Too bad.

Edit: I have a $7 coupon for the 2 gallon option, and a $2 coupon for the 32oz.

Second Edit: Amazon gives me an error when I try to clip the $7 coupon.

Third Edit: All coupons, including the $4 coupon are now showing and they all work.

This stuff is nasty, if you have kids, pets or a garden keep away. You can try horticultural vinegar if you want to kill weeds.

I get more satisfaction from plucking by hand or with the weed plucker.

What is this stuff? Looks like it is 95% water concentrated. What is the mix ratio? I just did my first roundup treatment this year, but a full year? Did not know it even existed..

If you don't already, you should use ReviewMeta to check for fake amazon reviews. This product seems to have a huge amount of fake reviews (tip: don't use reviewmeta's preliminary reports, click on "report history" for the more detailed check)

Thanks for this. I've got an overgrown area in the back corner of the yard that I need to get under control. I've been using Round Up like crazy on my front yard. My beautiful but very old St Augustine grass got a fungus and most of it died off. Now it's all weeds, so I'm killing an area of weeds then letting it sit for a month and reseeding with centipede. A lot cheaper than resodding and centipede is lower maintenance but nothing beats St. Augustine for that lush, deep green look.

Be aware that Imazapyr lasts much longer than a month. As this Ortho deal says, up to a year. From my limited knowledge, I'd just continue using Glyphosate aka Roundup for your purpose of killing then reseeding.

Confirming imazypr. Lasts about 9 months in a fairly dry clime at recommended concentration for me.

1 gal concentrate only make 5.3 gals. smh

Compare N Save concentrate, 1 gal makes 85 gals and I know it works. The bad news is the price more than doubled this year. Bought 2 gals last year for $20 a gal.

Contains 41-percent glyphosate
Covers over 25,000 square feet

Cheapest formulation is Agrisel GlyPhoSel Plus (not "Pro") for $26-30 from domyown.com or $22 from solutionsstores.com when they have it in stock. Same quart size and concentration. Works great for my driveway.

I only use this stuff in areas I mulch and in sidewalk gaps. Like others say this stuff kills everything it touches. Sprayed the other night in prep for mulch this weekend. Within 24 hours any grass it touched was brown and weeds shriveled.

Do not use this on your lawn!!! You need straight glyphosate, this will make sure nothing grows on your lawn for a year!
