We actually watched this in AP English class - after reading Heart of Darkness. Great movie, great book. Would definitely watch again in HD, even though I don't typically watch movies more than once. Is this streaming in HD on any platform?

Apocalypse Now Redux is on Netflix, which is 49 minutes longer than the original.

Very cool. Will put it on the watch list. Do you think I should watch the original, or Redux version? THANKS!

The original imo. It's still a good movie in the Redux version, but much of isn't really needed and it makes sense it was cut in the first place.

Redux is too long and meanders -- there is a Coppola "Final Cut "that is longer than theatrical but shorter than Redux I would recommend that version. But this has all 3 in 1080p and 4K so you get to decide for yourself Smilie

Thanks - that's exactly why I asked. I assume the original is on Netflix too?

Thanks for the feedback on the different versions.

I really don't need to own it. I almost never buy DVDs, BluRays, or digital copies, because, like I said, I just don't re-watch movies - with very few exceptions. I guess I don't like knowing what's going to happen - also why I never watch trailers - and been there, done that, seen that.

I respect that -- I only own ~10 movies -- and this is one of them it's that good.

OK, that's bizarre. Do they have the Final Cut version mentioned? Any other platform you know that streams the original cut? Yeah, I'm being lazy, it's early, I should actually search. Sorry for cluttering your deal.

Same. AP English read Heart of Darkness and watched Apocalypse Now. You appreciate Apocalypse Now a lot more when you understand that it's co-opting the themes of Heart of Darkness to discuss America's involvement in Vietnam.

I have the full disclosure box set with original and redux plus a good portion of the extras, I also don't have anything that will play 4K, but this is a solid price and it's tempting.

I also got a 4K digital copy via amazon (that I seem to have trouble playing because it points to the final cut which I don't yet own, weird).

I'll buy this eventually, but I guess there isn't much of a point unless I upgrade my TV and BD player.

How is this not already front page???
Anywho I bought this last year. IIRC in disc form at least it's all 3 cuts on both UHD and BD. So it's the version to own for this movie. I can't recall if the digital redeemed the Same way though... Interesting that gruv is selling this too. This is a Lions gate title and Gruv at least originally was Universal's direct to consumer store (which I think is partly why their pricing often beats the other even big retailers).
